MY HUSBAND DEMANDED I SAVE UP WHILE PREGNANT BECAUSE I WON'T BE ABLE TO WORK WHEN OUR BABY ARRIVES.
So, I'm six months pregnant, but still working full-time, and my husband Dan's been super supportive — or at least I thought he was. We'd laugh about baby names, talk about trips we'd take with the baby, all that. It felt like we were in this together.
Then last night happened.
I bought this comfy dress because, honestly, pants are no longer my friend. I get home, and Dan goes, "Whoa, spending your paycheck on shopping? Better start saving with your next one though!" I thought he was joking. So I laugh, but then he gets serious. "You're not working after the baby, but you still need to cover half the bills, just like now." I FROZE. "Wait… what? You expect me to cover the bills when I'm home with the baby?" And he just looks at me, all smug, like I'm crazy. "You don't think I'm going to magically start earning twice as much, huh?!"
Later that night, things get worse. I come back from the bathroom, and there's a piggy bank on the table with a note: "START SAVING, MOMMY."
I could've lost it right there, but I stayed cool. If he wanted to split things 50/50, I'd arrange that.
