Sachem made history in June when it appointed Patti Trombetta as Superintendent of Schools. She is now the first Sachem alum to hold the post and the first female to be hired in that position.

Being described as a “pillar in our community” is an earned title. Terence Dee will humbly tell you he wanted to take the Sachem Sports Club to the next level “for the kids.” He did much more.

After nearly a decade at the helm of one of Long Island’s largest youth sports organizations, Dee not only evolved SSC but also established the standard for operational efficiency in the eyes of the community. In May, he announced he would be stepping away as President of SSC and passing the torch to Ed Herdina. Dee will remain on the board as second vice president to help transition leadership.

Sachem East track and field won the New York State championship in the 4x400 meter relay. Savanna Edwards, Bella Galeas, Taylor Percy, and Sarafina Scavo won with a time of 3:55.12.

⚽️ Steve Muller gathered his emotions as he bent on one knee beside the soccer showcase in the Sachem North gym lobby. You saw a proud man looking at his team’s league championship trophies from 1963 and 1964. Placing his All-County hardware into the glass display solidified a full-circle moment in his life.

Muller, 76, who graduated in 1965, was Sachem soccer’s first All-County player. He requested his physical momento return home to its rightful spot to inspire future generations of players as they walk by the display.

For the past 17 years, Sachem has been able to award Charles R. Johnson Memorial Scholarships to some of its finest student-athletes from the track and field programs, thanks to the generosity and support of the Sachem community.

The latest meet was held in late May and dozens of Sachem student-athletes competed in Coach Johnson’s honor.

Dylan Laube didn't go to Sachem, but he did spend his formative years winning championships with the Sachem Sports Club (SSC). He was also the latest Suffolk County product drafted by an NFL team when the Las Vegas Raiders selected him in the sixth round with the 208th overall pick.

“I’m so fired up to prove you RIGHT and the 31 teams who passed on me wrong!" he wrote on X. Let's get to work!!"

Laube, who played high school football at Westhampton Beach, was on SSC's first Suffolk County PAL Championship team at 11 years old and helped SSC win two more when he was 12 and 13.

Michael Rabasca didn’t intend to spend life in soccer but has held some unique positions at the game’s highest level.

He credits Sachem coaches Frank Schmidt, Jack Mahoney, Claude Amollobietta, Joe Davidson, and Pete Montalbano with a great deal of his interest in sports.

Rabasca, who graduated from Sachem in 1987, is the LA Galaxy’s Director of Cognitive Performance. He previously served as the Director of High Performance with Toronto FC and was on staff when Toronto won the MLS Cup in 2017. He also coached with Real Salt Lake’s youth academy.
