It’s not always a bad thing to let your classic car get overgrown. Out searching for a coffee shop to work at and I found this.

Today I’ll work from the Princes Islands near the city. It was a short ferry ride to the islands, and it has fantastic views of the mainland. The coffee was pretty good too. I love the sea so I couldn’t pass up a chance to be surrounded be water while I worked.

The best thing about being a digital nomad is being able to explore the city you are in as part of your daily life. For example, before work today, I took a walk to the Galata Tower. Built in 1348, it has served as a watchtower along the old walls, a prison, and a fire watchtower. It stands at over 200 feet high, and can be easily seen towering over the city around it for miles.

I take my “lunch” hour at sunset so I can enjoy the golden hour. No office can compare to working steps from the ocean and a new view every day.

There is always a quiet place here in Istanbul. Even though the largest city in Europe is right outside, it was fantastic to sit here and work. Greenery and wood is a nice change from concrete and glass.

It’s amazing to be able to work and see places that have so much influence on the world. The Bosporus straight is one of the world’s most important waterways. Europe on one bank, Asia on the other, it has linked east and west for thousands of years, and been the only sea outlet from Russian, Ukrainian, and other nations on the Black Sea into the wider Mediterranean.

I post about coffee a lot, but in a city famous for coffee, I have to. Coffee with a view is why I am here and not in a cubicle. 🇹🇷

Went to the Egyptian bazaar today! Built in 1660, it is the second largest covered bazaar in the city. I know it is an overpriced tourist trap, and you can find the same things with much better prices elsewhere in the city, but it is still fun to see.

Istanbul is famous for their stray dogs and cats. Over 125,0000 feral cats and 130,000 dogs roam the streets. They are generally well received by the locals. Food and water is regularly put out for them on the street, and they often wander into businesses. This one paid me a visit while I was working - might have had better luck if I was having more than coffee. Sorry!

One of the best parts of Istanbul is the coffee shop culture. I have no problem walking into any cafe, opening my laptop and getting some work done for a few hours. Every cafe you pass will have someone typing away. Finding a cafe to work in is easy, so you can focus on just finding great coffee.

Launching Trade Wind Nomads! Working on it in a gorgeous coffee shop overlooking the Bosporus. Nothing beats a corner office except a corner office anywhere.
