It is an honor and a privilege to serve women and children who are experiencing homelessness in our little Montessori preschool 🥹❤️

During her time at Pathways last year, Ivannasha had two daughters enrolled in our Early Learning Center. She stopped by today to share that she had started her own business selling lip gloss with her daughters. In this photo, she is proudly holding the paperwork for her new LLC. She said that while she is grateful for her time spent in our temporary emergency shelter and all of the lessons she learned during her time there, she wanted to do something to ensure that her children never experienced homelessness themselves and therefore, needed our services.

There is nothing like a visit from one of our former clients to remind us of the impact we are making on the women and children that we serve here in the Pathways Early Learning Center.

Happy Earth Day—Montessori style! Our preschool teacher did the sweetest activity to honor this special day with her students. Throughout the week, our preschoolers will be discussing the many ways that we can be good stewards of our planet. Today, they learned about recycling with this hands-on learning activity that allows them to sort recyclables into the appropriate category. ♻️🌎❤️

These teachers make me so proud to be their director, and none of this would have been possible without my assistant director, Nadia Hope George, who selflessly threw herself into my mission to make Montessori accessible to children who are experiencing homelessness.

Nadia and I were so fortunate to have a mentor who challenged and inspired us both. Michelle Edwards Shelton took upon herself to share her decades of wisdom and experience in early childhood leadership with us both.

I haven’t had time to post these since I returned from the Montessori conference. I just got off the phone with , and our conversation got me thinking about the multitude of ways that we have mentored one another over the years and the relationships between the teachers in my school. Those relationships are not only VITAL to our sanity, but they are vital to achieving lasting program quality as well. When teachers work well together, lift one another up, and collaborate, the whole school succeeds.
