Expect some big announcements in the near future, regarding Amateur Mixed Martial Arts in Ontario

In a span of just under a year, finishing with the Heroes Fight League event this coming April, Ontario will have seen no less than 8 amateur mma events organized by groups other than Combative Sports Canada (Ontario’s PSO for Amateur MMA)

We try to accommodate as many athletes as possible in our events, but there is a limit on the number of athletes in order to guarantee a high quality event.

Tryouts for The Ultimate Fighter "Canada vs Australia" are being held in Toronto on September 22nd. The weight classes for the season will be Welterweight (170lbs) and Middleweight (185lbs).

A wonderful shout out from the President of Substance Combat, Neil Forester. For those that missed it, last weekend saw an successful Pro MMA card held in Toronto - not always easy to pull off in Ontario.

It appears as though they're in the start up stages of planning another event, perhaps in October. Congratulations, Thank You, and Best of Luck with the upcoming event.

The autopsy results for Hamilton based Felix Elochukwu, who died shortly after an MMA match held in Michigan back in April, declared his death due to a pre-existing heart condition.

An autopsy has revealed that the Hamilton man fighting in a mixed martial arts event in Port Huron, Mich. died in April as a result of a heart malfunction.
