Eche'Ane Festival: Hon. Fancy Sues for Peace, Love Amongst Eika People

As Eche'Ane festival amongst the people of Eika in Okehi Local Government Area climaxed yesterday amidst pomp and pageantry, the Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege popularly known as Fancy called for continuous peaceful coexistence of the people in order to support government's development initiatives.

The Auditor-General for Local Government who was visibly excited by the successful yearly traditional festival which had the participation of illustrious sons and daughters of Ebira land, expressed optimism that the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will reform the festival to become one of the tourists attraction in Kogi State.

Honourable Yakubu who further addressed the people on the need to complement the government's efforts at attaining secured and peaceful state, emphasized that no development can take place amidst insecurity, strife and communal clash of any sort.

"I am happy that this moment has served its purpose of bringing us together once again to celebrate the uniqueness of our culture which is rooted in love, forbearance and solidarity.

"On this note, I commend our traditional rulers and custodians of our cultural values for maintaining the essence of the festival which has brought all of us together once. May we live in sound health to witness more of this season by God's Grace", he prayed.

Kogi Govt Announces Rescue of Remaining Kidnapped CUSTECH Students

After series of coordinated security engagements involving the police, DSS, NSCDC and local hunters, Kogi State Government has announced the rescue of the remaining eight kidnapped students of Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.

Fancy Media Team (FMT) exclusively gathered this in a press statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Honourable Kingsley Femi Fanwo.

According to the statement, the excited state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed immediate full support towards the recovery of the students and their parents, while holistic modalities are being put in place to make Kogi more unbearable for criminals.

The statement reads:
"the Government of Kogi State expresses profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the mobilization of resources to ensure the rescue of the kidnapped students. We also thank the National Security Adviser immensely for his commitment to the release of the students and the general security of the State. The Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Naval Staff, the Chief of Air Staff, the Director General of DSS, the Inspector General of Police and all the officers and men of the Armed Forces that put in their best as well as the Pilots, did a wonderful job to support us in reuniting the kidnapped students with their families.

"The Kogi State Command of all the security agencies, Police, DSS, NSCDC and our local hunters are also highly appreciated for their efforts towards this feat"

Governor Ododo who further expressed immense gratitude to his Kwara State counterpart, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak for his support, said their administration will continue the drive to recalibrate their security architecture and pay an uncompromising attention to the Safe School Initiative.

The State Governor further revealed that structures have been put in place to keep schools safe to ensure every child is not deprived of his or her right to education in order to the record of having the lowest out of school children in the North.

"Kogi has domesticated the Child Rights Act and we will defend the right of our children to quality education. In Kogi State, education is free up to the Secondary School level. We also pay the registration fees for our students to write all internal and external examinations with a budgetary allocation that is way above the UNESCO benchmark for education. We do all of these to educate our children and make them responsible contributors to the economy of Nigeria."

Consequently, Governor Ododo implored the people of Kogi State to be united in order to defeat banditry, kidnapping and any form of criminality, just as he urged them to always volunteer intelligence to security agencies to enable them to prevent crime.

Food Sufficiency: Kogi Governor Launches Wet Season Farming

In bid to fulfill one of his campaign promises of ensuring food sufficiency all through the season through mechanized farming, Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has today launched wet season farming.

The wet season farming initiative which is expected to cover over 7,324 hectares of farm lands was launched by the Governor with over 100 modern tractors.

Fancy Media Team (FMT) gathered that the farming investment by Governor Ododo gulped over 7 billion naira with nearly 10,000 Kogi farmers captured in the first phase of inputs distribution.

Governor Ododo in a brief remarks noted that the designated lands for the statewide farming exercise is expected to be untilized for cultivation of rice, maize, cassava and other staple crops.

He charged the beneficiaries to be dutious, hardworking and patriotic enough to used the items for the purpose for which they are meant, adding that a more encompassing distribution of farm inputs will be done in the second phase.

Kogi Local Government Auditor-General Congratulates Gov. Ododo on Tribunal Victory

The Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege, has congratulated Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the entire people of Kogi State for the resounding victory of the Governor at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal.

Hon. Yakubu expressed his excitement in a press statement he personally signed and made available to the Fancy Media Team (FMT) and other journalists in Abuja immediately after the judgement was delivered in favour of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The Auditor-General for Local Government who praised the wisdom and tenacity of the tribunal judges throughout the legal proceedings stated that the judgment is a perfect reflection and affirmation of the will of the majority of the people of Kogi State, who turned out massively on 11th November 2024 to elect Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

According to Hon. Yakubu, the legal battle, although distracting, was not completely needless as it deepens democratic culture, which permits aggrieved or dissatisfied members of the opposition parties to seek possible redress or clarifications in a court of competent jurisdiction, stressing that all lingering issues concerning the 11th November election have been laid bare for the understanding of all parties involved.

"I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the people of Kogi State for their overwhelming support throughout the period of presidential and governorship elections to this point of the legal verdict.

"Since the emergence of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the flag bearer of the APC for the 11th November governorship election, we knew that he would succeed due to your support and the verifiable achievements of his predecessor which he has used as a launch pad for greater achievements in the state," he said.

Hon. Yakubu specifically appreciated the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello; Kogi State APC chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello; the Honourable Minister for Steel Development, Prince Abubakar Shaibu, who acted as the Director-General of the Ododo/Oyibo Governorship Campaign Organisation; and several other stakeholders, saying that their show of patriotism would never be betrayed by Alhaji Ododo who is poised to continue the good work of his predecessor.

He emphasised that Alhaji Ododo's mandate represents the true Kogi State agenda, judging from the spread of votes he garnered from all the senatorial districts and the affirmation of the unbiased judges, stressing that the ethnic agenda that attempted to resurface during the election period has been decisively buried by the outcome of the tribunal judgment.

However, the Fancy Media Team (FMT) reports that while the certificate forgery issue raised by the petitioners against Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo was dismissed as a pre-election matter, the tribunal also dutifully struck out the SDP BVAS expert testimony for falling short of the Evidence Act.

Kogi Auditor-General for LG, Okehi CTC, Others Convene Special Security Summit

In a bid to complement the efforts of the state government in warding off insecurity in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, the Auditor-General for Local Government, Honourable Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege (also known as Fancy) has partnered the Caretaker Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji (Odu), traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders to convene a special security summit.

The summit which was held yesterday in Obangede Ward at the Palace of the Adeyika of Eika, His Royal Highness, Mall. Abubakar Sunday Jatto was aimed at taking a holistic approach through strategic synergy with conventional security agencies to secure the Local Government for successful implementation of the planned infrastructural development in the area by the state government.

While addressing the gathering, the Auditor-General for Local Government, Hon. Yakubu lamented the security breach that resulted to the unfortunate kidnapping of one of the expatriates handling the construction of the internal road network in Obangede, noting that it was a height of callousness and insensitivity for anyone to obstruct the development plans of the government by such obnoxious act.

Hon. Yakubu who further revealed that the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will leave no stone unturned in its quest to sustain the infrastructural legacies of his predecessor said all hands must be on the deck to support the present administration.

He added that the ongoing rehabilitation of internal roads in Okehi will not be beneficial to only members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but everyone across political party divides.

In his speech, the Okehi Caretaker Chairman who announced the safe return of the kidnapped expatriate insisted that security around construction workers handling the internal roads must be rejigged to forestall a reoccurrence of the unfortunate incidence.

The Caretaker Chairman suggested the dissolution of the existing security committee and immediate inauguration of an expanded and special security committee that consists of professional hunters, civil defense and the military to secure the entire Local Government Area.

Hon. Monday Amoka Eneji who expressed optimism that there will be no complicity with the composition of the special security committee whose members would be drawn from all the wards of the local government, added that the issue of security should not be left in the hands of the government alone.

While responding, the Adeyika of Eika, HRH. Mallam Abubakar Sunday Jatto eulogized the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for taking security issues as a top priority, just as he pledged to mobilize other monarchs and his subjects to support the infrastructural development drive of the present administration.

Other stakeholders who spoke at the summit were Elder Achipe from Obangede ward, Hon Nasirullah from Okaito/Usungwe ward, Mr Abdulmalik Danga from Uboro/Omavi ward, Adai Godwin and Ohinoyi Ozube, who all applauded the initiative and pledged their resolve to contribute their quota to ensuring security of lives and property.

KGSG Seeks FG's Support for Military Base in Crisis-Prone Areas in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ododo Ahmed Usman, has expressed his administration's interest in establishing a Forward Operating Base (FOB) for the Nigerian Military in Omala Local Government Area and other crisis and crime-prone localities within the state to address and curtail security challenges.

Governor Ododo made the expression on Wednesday when he visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at A*o Villa, Abuja, to brief him on the state of affairs in Kogi State.

Governor Ododo who stated that the military operating base would assist the government in its efforts to curtail incessant crises and threats to lives in the area and other parts of the state vulnerable to crime, praised the Federal Government for its continuous intervention and support to states in the fight against insecurity in the country.

The Governor equally used the avenue to highlight his administration's activities in agriculture, including the recent census of farmers across the 21 local government areas in the state, the recovery and refurbishment of over 200 tractors now being deployed for the commencement of the new farming season to clusters of farmers who are meant to concentrate on different crop production, and the preparation of over 7,000 hectares of farmland now ready for cultivation to ensure food security in the state.

Further presenting the scorecard of his administration and plans in health, Governor Ododo detailed the President about the readiness of his government to commence the revitalisation of 63 Primary Healthcare Centres across the three senatorial districts, adding that the delivery of access to quality primary healthcare as a basic need for human development is one of the thematic areas of his administration.

On infrastructure, the Governor briefed him on the commitment to complete all ongoing road constructions and other uncompleted projects across the state, especially the 9.9-kilometre Zone 8 Junction Zango-Barracks-GYB junction road, the 5.5-kilometre Zone 8 Junction-Crusher road, and other projects that cut across educational institutions in the state.

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who had earlier commended Governor Ododo on the state's proactive approach to the recent security challenges, assured the Governor of his support as a father to all in the quest to have an efficient governance system that works to deliver the aspirations of citizens.

CUSTECH Osara: Hon. Fancy Commends Ododo, Security Agencies for Swift Rescue of Abducted Students

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kogi State Auditor-General for Local Government, Honourable Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege (popularly known as Fancy) has commended the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, security architecture, and other good spirited individuals for their various efforts that resulted to the prompt rescue of the abducted students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara.

Fancy Media Team (FMT) recalls that scores of unknown gunmen had on Thursday 9th, May 2024 stormed the serene campus of the university and whisked away an unspecified number of students who were preparing for semester examinations.

The State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo had in a swift response to the ugly incident visited the school where after careful on-the-spot assessment, alleged that the abductors could have had conspirators in the school, especially with the switching off of the CCTV camera before the incidence.

Governor Ododo however gave a matching order to the DSS, professional hunters, police force and army to ensure prompt rescue of the innocent students, just as he described the occurrence as the height of inhumane and ignoble act that could ever be conceived by any rational being.

While reacting to the cheering news of the students' rescue earlier today, Hon. Yakubu said Governor Ododo has demonstrated strength and valour typical of a compassionate leader by visiting the university few hours after the occurrence.

The Auditor-General for Local Government affirmed that the Governor's presence at the scene was reassuring and a necessary morale booster for various security agencies which later led to the rescue of the abducted students.

He said, "I wish to commend His Excellency, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo for his swift response to the recent attack on the students of CUSTECH Osara by unknown gunmen. The Governor's visit and eventual rescue some of the students by our gallant security personnels is a confirmation of the avowed decision of the present administration to ensure security of life and property.

"Kogi State is as safe as ever and no hidden force can alter its peaceful and secure atmosphere. We can assure you that perpetrators of this heinous crime and their sponsors will be brought to book in due course".

Consequently, Hon. Yakubu urged the people of the area to be watchful and report to security agencies any suspicious movement by any strange people in their midst.

Kogi Auditor-General for LG Seeks Synergy with State AG, MDAs for Effectiveness

Kogi State Auditor-General for Local Government, Honourable Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege has sought effective collaboration of the office of Accountant General of Kogi State and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in order to sustain the culture of fiscal transparency, probity and accountability bequeathed them by the administration of the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.

Honourable Yakubu who made the move recently in Lokoja while paying courtesy call on the Accountant General of the State, Hajiya Habibat Onumoko added that Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will leave no stone unturned in his quest to implement all his promises to the people of the state.

The Auditor-General for Local Government who used the opportunity to congratulate Hajiya Habibat Onumoko for being part of the team that ensured impactful governance in just 100 days in office of Governor Ododo further expressed satisfaction at the speed with which the Governor is discharging the social contract he has with the people of Kogi State.

"Despite temporary challenges before us, the government has been able to deepen and build on the success stories of the previous administration in the areas of security, staff welfare, job creation and infrastructural development.

"I believe that an effective and definitive working synergy between your office and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will not only make the government succeed but will further stamp or affirm our global recognition and ratings as one of the most transparent and responsible states in terms of fiscal matters", he said.

In a brief response, Hajiya Habibat Onumoko eulogized Hon. Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege for his strategic roles which she said partly culminated to the success of the present administration of Alhaji Ododo, assuring that she will do all her possible best to complement Governor Ododo's strive prudence, probity and transparency in his administration.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE ABDUCTED CUSTECH STUDENTS

1. This is to inform the general public that some of the students abducted by gun men at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara have been rescued safely by local hunters and other security agents, hours after the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo visited the institution to assure parents of his commitment to rescuing the students.
2. Local vigilante men and security agents engaged the kidnappers in a fierce shootout and the kidnappers succumbed to superior firepower and escaped with gun wounds, leaving the kidnapped students who also ran in different directions to avoid being caught up in the fire exchange.
3. Many of the students kidnapped and even other people in captivity have been rescued and taken to medical facilities for proper attention, while many others were also rescued in the early hours of today.
4. Security agents are currently combing the forests to ensure all the kidnapped students are found and brought home safely.
5. In the sporadic gun battle to rescue our dear students, a local hunter and a DSS operative sustained injuries and they are currently receiving medical attention.
6. We commend our local hunters and all the conventional security agents for their bravery and gallantry. Of special commendation is the DSS for acting on credible intelligence to coordinate a fearless confrontation on the outlaws. The security agencies have once again demonstrated why Kogi State will remain an uncomfortable place for bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements.
7. The success recorded so far is a clear testament of the readiness of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to ensure adequate and uncompromising security for the people of Kogi State.
8. We urge residents to report anyone with gun wounds found in their communities to law enforcement agents.

Security Breach: Gov. Ododo Vows Justice for CUSTECH Abducted Students, Suspects Internal Sabotage

Visibly disturbed by the security breach at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has charged the locals of the area and beyond to complement government's efforts by volunteering credible information that could speed up and assist security agencies in their efforts to rescue the abducted students of the university.

Governor Ododo made the remark today at the university during an on-the-spot visit alongside some executive members of his cabinet to get firsthand information of the incident.

The Governor Ododo who queried why the CCTV monitors were not operational at the time of the attack, hinged it on internal saboteurs.

His remarks: “We cannot rule out internal sabotage in this operation because the school is fully equipped with CCTV cameras, how come they could not capture the attack when it happened?”

According to him, the preliminary reports gathered suspect internal sabotage due to the disconnection of the CCTV cameras within the premises shortly before the attack took place.

The Governor who called for calm as the government works hard in collaboration with security operatives in the state to ensure the safe return of the students, added that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the students are rescued.

While assuring that the security operatives were working round-the-clock to rescue the students, he noted that the government would review security operations within and around the institution to avoid a reoccurrence.

The Governor, who assured that the wrath of the law would definitely fall on the perpetrators of the ugly incident, reiterated that no effort would be left unexplored in the quest to free the victims.

"What is most important to us right now is the rescue of the abducted students and we will not rest until this is achieved as soon as possible.”

Governor Ododo, who was away at the time the incident occurred, had to immediately visit the institution to assess the area and receive briefs from the school management to enable them to collectively strengthen the security architecture in the university.

Governor Ododo commended the local vigilantes, hunters groups and all the security agencies in the state for the effort made so far to rescue the students.

He added that the government would continue to strengthen security across school communities to make it safe for the students to go about carrying out their academic activities without fear of attack.

100 Days in Office: Garlands to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo

In the voice of Lady Morgana who won senatorial election on the altar of emotional blackmail and crass mendacity, Fancy Media Team (FMT) can vehemently say 'hurray!' to Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the authentic Governor of Kogi State who just clocked 100 days in office. Of course, 'hurray' is in order because you cannot but eulogize Alhaji Ododo's heroic mien and unabashed determination that saw him through the primary election of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the election proper which was conducted 11th November last year and the latter failed but coordinated attacks he has weathered immediately after the election to this point.

When it comes to politics, Kogi State is peculiar and FMT believes that when democracy was birthed in the ancient city of Athens in Greece with its lofty tenets, the promoters did not foresee possible eruption of bile-filled sectional dissidents in the Confluence State who are bent on using the freedom granted by the system of government to wreck havoc on the fabric of the society. Therefore, we say hurray to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on this milestone.

Without sounding overtly panegyric, Fancy Media Team (FMT) keenly observed that Ododo is the only politician that embraced decency and decorum in all the activities that culminated into his eventual victory as appropriately declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He was realistic in his manifesto and firm in his desires for consolidations. He did not promise to erect Tower of Babel so that the people of Kogi State can have direct access to God. He is enlightened to the point that he knew that some procedures would have to be followed to revive some of the critical moribund projects in state. Alhaji Ododo never claim to be omniscient on issues that need valuable contributions of stakeholders when he gets to the office.

During his consultations which were done across party and ethnic inclinations, Alhaji Ododo pledged to sustain an egalitarian Kogi State where cconsiderations regarding who holds certain political offices will be blind to ethnic sentiment which his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was able to dismantle. Like his predecessor, Alhaji Ododo's first and inaugural appointments which had an even spread across the Senatorial District of the state depicted him as a cosmopolitan and detribalised leader who is poised to harness the potential of the state for the general good of all.

Governor Ododo is of the APC and on 27th of January, 2024 when he was sworn in, he did not mince words in expressing his readiness to key into the programme and policies of the government at the centre. The Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had already marshalled out plans in providing succour to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal which was believed to be the drain pipe through which corrupt cabals and economic saboteurs have been milking the nation. Through palliatives, the state under the leadership of Alhaji Ododo had partnered with the Federal Government to distribute hundreds of bags of rice and other foodstuffs to the people in phases. Alhaji Ododo has also had strategic engagements with farmers where farm inputs were released in order to improve food sufficiency in the state, and this is yielding expected results already.

Alhaji Ododo promised improved welfare for Kogi State workers and today, the testimonials are everywhere except in the camps of hired e-media mobs and urchins majorly situated in the Federal Capital Territory with the sole assignment of de-marketing the state through sponsored protests for illusive political ends. His predecessor built Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) and Kogi State University Kabba (KSUK) where he has paid working visits to ensure the accepted and approved standards for the ongoing projects are not deviated from. Provision of adequate security was one of the achievements of the New Direction administration and Governor Ododo was also poised to sustain this trajectory when he recently distributed over 150 patrol vehicles to beef up security in all Local Government Areas of the state.

Despite the gloomy realities that resulted to subversion of electoral fortunes against the All Progressives Congress APC in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area in the November 11 governorship election, Governor Ododo has approved immediate rehabilitation of all internal roads in the area. This is a further proof that he is never cut out for sectional governance regardless of the jaundiced prism through which the morally bankrupt opposition agents viewed him.

We are excited that inspite of prevailing legal battles against his victory, Alhaji Ododo has remained unperturbed in delivering the mandate freely given to him by the majority of the people of Kogi State. Fancy Media Team (FMT) therefore admonish agents of cynicism and opposition to tread with caution, and be sensitive enough to commend the government of the day when necessary. Hatred should not eat deep into your sub-consciousness to the point that when a government approves an upgrade of an air strip to a cargo airport, your accumulated hatred will interpret it to be something else.
