LIGHT EMANATES
©️Judith Froemming

“Injustice can’t consume your light
if you remain balanced
while taking healthy, and appropriate action.
Light doesn’t hide out.
It emanates healing
and justice into the world.

Proceed one step at a time.
Being overwhelmed
by the injustices of our world
drains resources and energy,
often blocking the evolution of justice.

Work for justice.
Go home.
Be happy.
Choose balance.
The work will never end.
We stand on the shoulders
of those who came before.”

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Marcus Aurelius Stoic Reflections 74: Reflecting on Our Own Faults

"Whenever you are about to find fault with someone, ask yourself the following question: What fault of mine most nearly resembles the one I am about to criticize?" — Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius advises us to look inward before criticizing others. By recognizing our own similar faults, we cultivate humility and empathy. This reflection emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and understanding in our judgments.

Reflect on your tendency to criticize others. Consider how often the faults you notice in others mirror your own shortcomings. Understand that by acknowledging your own imperfections, you can approach others with greater compassion and less judgment.

Before criticizing someone, pause and reflect on your own similar behaviors. Use this moment of introspection to foster humility and empathy. By aligning your approach with this principle, you embrace the Stoic ideal of self-awareness and compassionate interaction.
