A Peaky Blinders film is coming to Netflix, with Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy set to reprise his role as gangster Tommy Shelby. Image by

The streaming giant confirmed the news in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday.

"This is one for the fans," said Irish actor Murphy, who will also co-produce the film.

The hit BBC drama, which ran for six series from 2013 to 2022, followed the lives of Birmingham gangsters in the early 20th Century.

It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders."

Fans have reacted with excitement to the news.

"Tommy Shelby always [has] a way of making us glued to our screen," wrote one X user. "I'm so in for it."

"Can't wait for more Tommy Shelby action! Peaky Blinders on Netflix - it just doesn't get any better than that," wrote another.

But one user joked: "I guess I've got to binge Peaky Blinders before this film comes out, because I haven’t seen one episode yet."

The series first aired on BBC Two in September 2013. It made the transition to BBC One for the fifth series in 2019, achieving audiences of over five million.

Alongside the BRICS de-dollarization plans, the Chinese yuan has officially overtaken the US dollar as the top traded currency in Russia.

Indeed, the currency has now surpassed the greenback as the most prominent foreign exchange in Moscow according to a Reuters report.

RIADH: Global technology giants including Amazon.com Inc., Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Microsoft Corp. are among firms working to ramp up their presence in Saudi Arabia amid pressure from the government, which has said it will stop giving contracts to companies without regional headquarters in the country, foreign media reported.

The three US firms have all received licenses to establish regional HQs in Riyadh, a government database shows. Those approvals came just ahead of the January 1 deadline set by the Saudi government. There was a flurry of activity towards the end of the year as large corporations look to establish local HQs. Other firms that have recently received such licenses are Airbus SE, Oracle Corp. and Pfizer Inc.

China and Russia have almost completely phased out the dollar from their bilateral trade.
More than 90% of trade between the two nations is done with either the yuan or the ruble.
That "demonstrates almost full de-dollarization of economic ties," Russia's prime minister said.

China and Russia have almost completely phased out their use of the US dollar in bilateral trade, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has said.

In a meeting with Chinese and Russian officials this week, Mishustin said more than 90% of trade between the two nations was denominated in either Russia's ruble or China's yuan. That "demonstrates almost full de-dollarization of economic ties," Russia's state-run news agency TASS quoted him as saying.

Trade between Russia and China has also expanded this year, as Western sanctions have made Russia's economy more reliant on China for trade. Mishustin said total transactions between the two countries had swelled to a record $200 billion this year.

Meanwhile, Russia-US trade recently plummeted to a 30-year low. That came after the US and its allies largely cut off Moscow from the global financial system for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022

Omar Mansoor inaugurates the 19th presence in the London Fashion Week with his collection titled, ‘Kaarvan’.

The word Kaarvan origins from Persian meaning united for mutual protection on a journey.

The collection is made in shades of beige and Plum with trimmings made from hand-woven Ikat fabric sourced from Uzbekistan. The colour Beige is used to depict the desert and plum colour is used to depict the joy of reaching the destination. A tulip-shaped, aubergine velvet strapless gown worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, in a royal portrait alongside the-then Prince of Wales in 1991, and which later appeared in a Vanity Fair shoot in 1997, will be sold during a Sotheby’s auction in New York on Jan. 27.

With an estimated value between $80,000 and $120,000, the dress, designed by Victor Edelstein, was previously sold for $24,150 as part of the 1997 auction that comprised 80 dresses from Princess Diana’s personal collection to benefit the AIDS Crisis Trust and the Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Fund.

James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ sequel, ‘The Way of Water’ has officially taken over Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ as the highest-grossing film of 2022.

The latest part of Cameron’s sci-fi epic has swim past Maverick’s action drama at the global box office with its massive $1.55 billion of ticket sales, to become the top-grossing release of last year.

The ‘Avatar’ sequel racked in $471.8 million at the domestic ticket counters in addition to $1.075 billion in other territories, making its Worldwide collection reach $1.547 billion.

Amazon.com layoffs will now increase to more than 18,000 roles as part of a workforce reduction it previously disclosed, Chief Executive Andy Jassy said in a public staff note.

The layoff decisions, which Amazon will communicate starting January 18, will largely impact the company's e-commerce and human-resources organisations, he said.

The cuts amount to 6% of Amazon's roughly 300,000-person corporate workforce and represent a swift turn for a retailer that recently doubled its base pay ceiling to compete more aggressively for talent.

The recognition comes as over 150,000 Golden Visas have been issued by the Emirati authorities according to a report by Swiss boutique firm Passport Legacy.

The report states that UAE leads the world with 35 international RCBI specialists in 2022, climbing up from 30 in the previous year.

With international sales, the sequel to the highest-grossing movie of all time has generated $50.4 million at theaters around the globe since the movie started rolling out on Wednesday.

Thursday's domestic tally was below recent Disney release "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," a Marvel superhero film that racked up $28 million on its first evening in November.
