It’s been quite some time since I have given an update on our adoption journey, and if I’m being honest it’s out of pure discouragement. I truthfully don’t know what to say. While I would never want to come across as ungrateful(we have been so blessed with Brooks) it’s also hard to not have the capability to grow your family on your own terms. Especially when it feels like everyone else around you does.

We have spoken with what feels like tons of people(adoption workers, advocates, lawyers, etc.) all in an attempt to add to our family. So far nothing has worked out, but we are holding tight to the hope that one day it will. We know God is still SO good. Even when we feel the lowest. We are overwhelmed with the support we have been given by all of you. Please continue to be in prayer for our family, our hearts, and our journey. ♥️

These are some great tips on ways to show empathy to those struggling with infertility. I promise we are happy you’re being blessed. We are often just sad for our own families at the same time.

So many of you have been asking us for an update on our adoption journey, and we appreciate that so much! At this time, we don’t have much news to share. As disappointing as that can be at times, we have put our trust in the One who knows our future. We know that at any moment we could get a phone call that will change our families life.

One fun update: we will be starting “Family Fridays!” We will be talking about how our family operates, our values, and what we hope for our child and our future child(ren). We want to thank everyone for being here and supporting our journey

We like to make intentional celebrating a priority at our house because there’s always something to find joy about.

This week we are celebrating our son turning 4 years old this coming Friday! He gets a little surprise every night leading up to his birthday and we enjoy every minute of it!

Summer is finally arriving and we are here for it! 👏🏾👏🏾 Family time is cherished minutes around our house. This was one of our first “outings” to our family acreage when the weather started warming up. We love spending time together exploring!

Hey friends! It has been a while since I updated the page or posted anything. We are still on the search for our next precious miracle.

God laid this verse on my heart this evening and I wanted to share. This journey feels long, but we trust it will be so worth it in the end. We know that it is not by our own strength and will that we will run the race to the end, but by the will and goodness of God. We are choosing to confidently trust in Him. 💙

Birth Mothers. Biological Mothers. First Mommies...

I want to squash some misconceptions about these women. I want to offer up praise for their selflessness and sacrifice. I want the world to understand that they aren’t “taking the easy way out.” These brave women aren’t choosing to “give up their baby” so they can go “live their best life.”

Since adopting Brooks I have heard so many negative assumptions surrounding his adoption and his first Mommy. People always assume she chose adoption for herself, when the reality is that she chose adoption out of love for him.

Birth mothers deserve our respect, our love, our guidance, our assistance, our GRATITUDE.

Hear this: 🗣 You are NOT entitled to another woman’s child.

These women are putting the wants and needs of their child over the desires of their own hearts and that is something that deserves RESPECT.

Birth mothers, Biological mothers, First Mommies, Life Givers...YOU are respected and loved here.

♥️-Dakota, Hannah, and Brooks

Whew!! It’s been a super busy past few months with the holidays! We always have so much going on with family and friends through Thanksgiving and Christmas that we really try to be intentional about making memories as a family! Here’s just a few snapshots from some of the fun we had!

22/12/2019

Grief and loss are often at their worst around the holidays. 🎄Celebrations without someone as precious as a baby can be heart wrenching. 💔

Reach out to any birth mommas you know or anyone who has suffered loss this past year to provide some encouragement. Let them know they are loved and remembered. 💜

I wanted to talk a little bit about our son, Brooks. We adopted Brooks at birth from the most gracious and kind woman. We were beyond blessed the day that he entered this world.

Brooks is biracial. His birth mother was Caucasian, and his birth dad was African American. We love and respect who Brooks is. We have always done our best to encourage and respect Brooks in his ethnicity. Growing up in a Caucasian family, we would never want Brooks to feel like he had to be something he isn’t.

I sought help and learned very early on how to care for Brooks hair and skin. We have taken him to an African American barber to ensure his hair is cut and lined up appropriately. One of his favorite books is one entitled “Mixed” by Arree Chung. It’s a wonderful book teaching children how to celebrate each other’s differences. We hope Brooks is always proud of his ethnic background and that we can forever be a positive support for him.

Our family has no ethnic boundaries and fully supports children and families from all backgrounds. Our main goal is to encourage healthy family units. As I always say, “a child could be green with purple polka dots and we would love it just the same.”

Raising babies/kids is hard work, but God has blessed Dakota and I with an AMAZING support system in our lives. Our families are very involved, and we couldn’t make it without them! Brooks has a wonderful Uncle Zac, Aunt Day-Day, Mimi, Nana, TT, Great-grandparents, and Great Aunts who all love and care for him(and us) every single day!

Dakota and I are excited to announce that we are searching for our next miracle!

After months of praying and asking God for discernment, we have decided to open our home for adoption again!

Unfortunately, I am unable to conceive. However, we do NOT view adoption as a plan B. A little over three years ago, our lives were blessed with our precious Brooks! His birth mother was one of the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure to meet, and we are forever grateful to her for giving us this gift.

We are now hoping to grow our family through adoption once again. Our hearts are yearning for another sweet face to love, and a partner in crime for Brooks 😉

Hey!! We are so glad to have you be a part of this journey with us! I wanted to share a little bit about ourselves with each of you.

Dakota is my husband. Born and raised in Cave City, Arkansas. Dakota possesses a degree in Industrial Maintenance and Welding, and currently works in Electrical Maintenance for one of the largest lawn mower manufacturers in the US. He has been there for 7 years.
Dakota likes to keep busy and is usually working on 2-3 “projects” at any given time. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, and spending time at the lake.
I couldn’t ask for a better father for our son. Dakota is a very hands on Dad, and loves to spend time with Brooks.

Hannah: I was born and raised in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. I possess degrees in Business/Marketing, Psychology, and Applied Behavior Analysis. I currently work in Mental/Behavioral Health and have been with my current company for going on 2 years.
My hobbies include cooking/baking, reading, and spending time at the lake. I can usually be found cleaning(I love to clean) or just hanging out with my husband and son. We are getting ready to build a brand new house next summer with a huge yard for our kid(s) to play!

Brooks: He is our fun loving and rambunctious 3 year old son! He loves all things trains, trucks, and being outside. He is the most beautiful gift we have ever received and would make an awesome big brother!
