She’s a graduate of BS in Tourism in Management.

Natanggap agad siya sa Global & International Hotels even if fresh graduate siya.

Kaso dahil night shift pa siya tas malayo commute araw araw, nagresign siya.

She then applied to another job in the province, but eventually resigned again.

Buti nalang sa last job niya, nahired siya as a travel consultant.

Everything was working well for her. Pay and benefits are good.

Until pandemic came, and she was laid off.

She stumbled across an ad na pwede daw magfreelance na walang Upwork and OLJ to get clients.

So she took a risk to enroll in a freelancing course with her last money.

And after a few months, she got a client for $150 project.

This time, she didn’t think back of going to the corporate world.

Pero sympre, hindi naging madali.

She got clients who lowballed for her projects.

Even had clients na di siya binayaran.

Meron rin clients na bigla nagbreak up sila sa mga projects even if on-going yung process.

At meron rin months na hindi niya nahihit ang income niya.

She also had months na zero talaga income.

But she decided to keep going kasi wala naman talga mangyayari kung titigil agad siya.

After 2 years of hardwork, she was able to achieve her work-life balance that she dreamt since she was working sa corporate.

She can travel na hindi niya na keilangan hintayin ang vacaton leave.

She’s also been closing 6-figure per Brand & Web Design project while on vacation.

She’s been able to work with big brands that were already featured by CNN Philippines, Tatler, L’Officiel, Travel and Leisure etc.

Lam niyo ba nung 2020 (nung nagstart ako magfreelance)

Takot na takot talga ako kumausap sa mga strangers.

‼️How this Ex-Call Center Agent to Now a Fully BOOKED Freelancer (PCCS Success Stories) ‼️

FEELING LOST IN YOUR CURRENT JOB?

Yung tipong pumapasok ka lang para magwork 9-5, get your payday salary, pero alam mo sa sarili mo na hindi ka nageenjoy?

Meet Kathlyn,

She’s a former call-center agent with an ambitious dream to climb up the corporate ladder.

But after applying for promotion 3 times and getting rejected, she finds her daily routine getting ordinary with no growth.

Inisip niya, “If magwowork pa rin ako dito sa call center for another 5 years, will it be worth it?”

Kaya nadiscover niya ang freelancing when her office mate shared their success stories as a full-time freelancer.

At di lang yun, yung office mate niya kasama na niya husband niya sa freelancing business nila.

So when holidays came in 2022, she resigned from her full-time job without a backup plan.

We first met in Baguio when our coach had a Freelancer Meet-Up Party.

She even mentioned that, “Hindi ko alam saan ko kinuha yung lakas ng loob ko magresign, pero ginawa ko nalang kahit na 5k pesos nalang natitira sa pocket ko.”

Hindi biro ginawa niya kasi she also has a family to feed and bills to pay.

But she knew inside her heart that she wanted more than doing a job without any growth or challenge.

At ang dami niya na rin kasi mga officemates na nagkaroon ng success stories as a freelancer.

So she wanted to try and discover if this is the path to her growth.

When she started her freelancing, she had zero experience, and zero knowledge.

Like any starting freelancers, she got tons of calls and proposals rejected from clients. Yung iba ghosted.

Yung iba seenzoned. Yung iba, kahit ilang follow up na, wala pa rin.

Pagmeron siya nakukuhang client, after 1 month end na agad sila kasi nahihirapan siya bigyan ng results.

Kaya nag offer rin sya ng mgamaliliit na gigs muna. Logos, Facebook Profile Banners. Para lang makakuha ng konteng income.

Despite getting a lot of NO’s, and ghosted. She never gave up.

Her secret?

Just take action & show up daily.

As a full-time worker for more than 3 years, she also had a hard time transitioning into the freelancing work-routine.

Kahit 3 months pa lang siya, she finds herself also procrastinating and adjusting her body clock.

So she joined our Premium Client Designer Closing System a few months ago, and applied the strategies to her freelancing business.

She even admitted that she was afraid of accepting new opportunities because of her fear.

I went from an underpaid & overworked graphic design employee to a thriving freelancer in 3 years.

As an artistic person, I was told that art won’t make you a living.

My family discouraged me from pursuing arts when I was little.

But I couldn't blame them. Noon kasi wala talga opportunities sa pagiging magaling magdrawing.

Even my 8 uncles & aunts who came from an artistic family didn't pursue it.

And on dad's family side, who also came from an artistic family, ditched it only as a hobby but didn't pushed it as livelihood.

So alam niyo na saan ako nagmana? Char!

Because if you want to survive, you have to choose the skills that make you money.

Like sales, communication, finance, etc.

Kaso as a stubborn, ambitious & highly creative multipotential person, I still pursued a career with art or design in it.

Be it kahit technology siya or business. I just wanted to find a way to prove it to them.

It was tough:

I remembered:

👉 worked 12 hours on a full-colored portrait illustration using color pencils & my classmate only paid me 75php for it. Namamahalan pa sa 100php.

👉focusing on how to make my designs better, posting my portfolio online & hoping someone becomes my client.

👉daydreaming every day I could be a top-earning artist like I see being featured & earning a living through commissions.

But maybe I'm crazy stubborn kasi ANG HIRAP PALA

Kaya nung nakakuha ako ng first job ko as a graphic designer at an unlimited graphic design agency.

Sobrang saya ko na mas mataas pa yung sahod ko sa minimum wage. Tas sa bahay lang ako nagtrtrabaho.

But pandemic came & everything became toxic at work.

😩Co-workers were always complaining & ranting.
😩Design tasks were so many that you don't have personal time for yourself kasi 6am-12am ka na natatapos.
😩Management treats you like a robot instead of a human

That all resorted to burnout, mental stress, malnutrition & lots of stress.

And it made me quit without a back-up plan in the middle of the pandemic.

It was tough. Yung time na yun I just came from an emotionally abusive relationship. Sobrang stressful sa gaslighting & manipulation & pestering.

Kaya, I resorted to finding a job that would not make me want to go back to that horrible experience again.

That's where I remembered I purchased a freelancing course program when I was working, but did not have time to open it.

That course was the beginning of my journey towards a new life.

Back then I was charging 500php for a simple logo.

But knowing how to position & communicate the value of my designs helped me close 5-6 digit Brand Strategy & Design deals alone to Local clients.

Freelancing also helped me build my 2nd business selling Luxury Organic Beauty Products to people with skin problems.
