There will be a free bike marking and registration event taking place outside Morrisons Supermarket in Gelligaer on Saturday 28 September 2024 between 3.00 and 4.00 pm. Come along and get your bikes and scooters etc security marked free of charge!

Road Closure - The Square Penpedairheol

The B4254 from the junction with Hengoed Road in the direction of Gelligaer will be closed for a week commencing 25 May 24 to allow for gas mains replacement. Access for emergency services and residents will not be maintained during this period but access for pedestrians will.

SUNDAY 5 MAY 2024

On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council I give notice under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of the following road closure:

No one shall cause any vehicle to proceed along the Heol Adam between its junctions with Church Road and Unnamed Road for a distance of approx. 832 metres

LOCATION Heol Adam between its junctions with Church Road and Unnamed Road for a distance of approx. 832 metres

DURATION From 09:30 until 15:30 on Sunday 5 May 2024

REASON To allow for overhead works

DIVERSION Gelligaer Common Road, Western Drive, Angel Way, High Street, The Square, B4254 Pengham Road, B4254 Church Road

ACCESS Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained where possible.

B4254 Closure - Bus Arrangements

As a result of a temporary road closure at B4254 Church Road, Gelligaer from 08:00 on Monday 1 April until 18:00 on Friday 5 April 2024 to carry out essential burst mains repairs, there will be a disruption to the following bus services:

X38 – Bargoed to Nelson will only operate as far as Pengam lights and will continue through Tiryberth and Ystard Mynach towards Nelson Bus Station, where the route will resume as normal. No bus stops will be served after Pengam lights through to Cascade, Gelligaer and along Gelligaer Road to Nelson as far as Nelson Bus Station where normal service will be resumed.

C17 – Bargoed to Caerphilly will operate as far as Cascade lights and will continue through Hengoed Road to Ystrad Mynach town centre where normal service will resume. No bus stops after Cascade Community Centre through to Gelligaer and Penybryn will be served as far as Ystrad Mynach Town Centre where normal service will resume.

11 – Blackwood – Gelligaer will operate between Blackwood and Cascade as far as Rolls Avenue, to turn right onto Glyn-gaer Road and right on the B4254 and a further right at the lights back onto Hengoed Road. No Bus stops after the Duffryn Park Estate bus stops on the B4254 will be served through to Heol Cattwg.

Closure of B4254 Gelligaer

Please see below the latest update on the planned works on the road near the junction with the Harp Inn/Church due to start on 1 April 2024. I'll continue to post updates as they become available. This will cause disruptions and you'll need to plan your journeys to avoid this stretch of road as there will be no access between Cascade and Gelligaer via this road while the work is ongoing.


UPDATE

I’m writing from Welsh Water to let you know about essential work to repair a water leak on Pengam Road, Gelligaer. This work is planned to start on Monday 1st April, and is expected to take around one week.

Whilst this is the planned start date and duration, it may change in the event of an emergency, or factors beyond our control. Should the work need to be rescheduled or change in any way, we’ll update the ‘In Your Area’ section of our website, which you can access by clicking here.

Our investigations suggest that the leak is located in the centre of the road, as such, a section of Pengam Road will be closed for the duration of our work, and there’ll be a signposted diversion route for motorists. I’ve attached a map of the alternate route with my email.

We recognise this essential work will impact the community, and so to minimise disruption this work is taking place over the Easter school holidays. We’ll be sending text messages to those living in and around the area, and we’ll also provide information on our page. I’d kindly ask that you provide this update on any of your social platforms, to ensure as many people as possible know what to expect.

We’ll be working with Envolve Infrastructure, who’ll be in the area between the hours of 7.30am and 5.30pm each day, and over the weekend to get the repair completed as quickly as possible.

We don’t expect this work to impact the water supply to residents in any way, although if anything changes, we’ll let you know.

Cascade Community Centre - Tuesdays 10.00 until 12.00am

Come along this Tuesday morning and join us for a cuppa. If you want to join in with the Crochet Club or just see what it's all about then have a look at the same time.

There will also be a Councillor Surgery with Judith Pritchard or Haydn Pritchard in attendance.

Week 6 Day 3 of the FitYard C25K Challenge completed in bright sunshine for the first time in weeks! We're well on the way to completing the challenge with just a few weeks left. Cascade Community Centre - Tuesday 13th February 2024

Come along and join us at the Cascade Community Centre this Tuesday. If you just want to pop in for a coffee or you want to see what the Crochet Club or Carvers are all about then come along. It's all free of charge and there's no pressure to take part in any of the activities. We will also have a Councillor Surgery running at the same time if you want to have a chat with one of your local councillors.

FitYard Running Club Couch to 5k Challenge

Week 3 Day 2 of our latest FitYard C25K Challenge. It was absolutely freezing tonight, but we still got out and completed the second session of the week. It's not too late to join us, and we will meet up again this coming Sunday morning amd every Tuesday and Thursday evening to continue our journey towards completing a 5k run. It's fun and it's free. Come along and get fitter and leaner while making new friends and having a lot of fun along the way.
