We'll have a festive food share, holiday games and quizzes, cosy crafts, and of course - lovely company 🎁

There may be a number of reasons why a survivor of abuse and trauma may struggle to report their experience in its aftermath.

It is important to understand these barriers to seeking help so that we can aim to alleviate them in future.

Some barriers to seeking help may include:

- History of secrecy, shame, isolation
- Normalisation of abuse over lifetime
- Potential to be “outed”
- More likely to be estranged from family / local community
- Coercive control targeted at sexual orientation and gender identity

Additional barriers may include:

- Rurality of Devon and Cornwall compounds isolation
- Client lack of knowledge or confidence in services
- Less faith in criminal justice system / police responses
- Fear / expectation that won’t be taken seriously or won’t be understood

Here's what's on for Proud2Be Youth in December ⛄🏳️‍🌈

For LGBTQIA+ young people aged 13-17:
🟠 Newton Abbot group at 5-7pm every Tuesday: 3rd, 10th & 17th
🟡 Torbay group (Paignton) at 5-7pm every Wednesday: 4th, 11th & 18th
🟢 Low-Key group (Paignton) at 5-7pm every Thursday: 5th, 12th & 19th

Family-friendly festive events (LGBTQIA+ folk and allies, under-16s welcome if accompanied by a parent, carer or guardian):
🎄 Proud2Be Fab-yule-ous festive crafting event (Paignton): 1-4pm on 14th
🎄 Our annual festive gathering: 3-6pm on 25th

❌ Regularly scheduled groups will not run during Proud2Be holidays (between 23rd December 2024 and 5th January 2025)
