Discovering the ultimate time-slowing secret: . Our 30-year-old veggie oil van recently decided to take a break in the repair shop, craving some TLC. Serendipity struck as our mechanic happened to own a yurt nestled on traditional Coast Salish Peoples land in the Cowichan Valley. Embracing the chance, we moved in.

Amidst the ancient forest, raindrops serenaded us while the wood stove kept us cozy. The children reveled in their newfound freedom, running wild during the day and sleeping soundly at night. We dabbled in crafts, read books, and spun vintage records when the rain poured outside. Mornings greeted us with the symphony of frogs and birds, and stepping out of the yurt often meant encountering sleeping deer.

A milestone marked this hallowed ground: Cho-Tai's first steps. Our inspiration for this journey traced back to a French movie called "Bébés," portraying children growing up in Mongolian yurts, New York City, Tokyo, and Namibian tribes. Before Su and I want to start a family, we realized our desire to slow down life and raise our kids with the same simplicity we saw in that Mongolian yurt.

Our quest for a slower pace led us from Beijing to the Canadian Rockies' mountain town of Canmore, through the Chilean mountain town of Las Trancas, the college town of Fairbanks in interior Alaska, and eventually into our trusty 30-year-old VW van, in search of a home and a slower way of life. Ultimately, the choice to slow down is a personal one.

Spending time in a yurt for half a month, we found that the environment has a way of making us reassess and realign our family values toward a simpler existence, nurturing our children into the individuals they are meant to be. We wholeheartedly embraced this breakdown in our journey; it became an opportunity to savor life without fixed agendas.

We captured these moments while filming 'Find Me Outside,' a kids' outdoor film project supported by and . The project is now entering the post-production stage after some uncertain weather conditions, but for any outdoor documentary film project, it has to come with all kinds of weather. Find me outside in sun, rain, snow, and dust! 🎥🌿

Week 1's wild ride with our trusty 33-year-old has been a rollercoaster of adventures! 🚌💨
From a surprise oil leak due to a dirty air filter, to our tire carrier giving up at the mechanic's, and even a mysteriously burnt-out hose between the turbo and intake – it's safe to say we've had our share of excitement. 🛠️🔥 First flatbed ride of the trip is officially in the books! 📖😅

Don’t worry, we are all good now. Roaming strong on the road!

In 2020 Summer, we made this short climbing film in Fairbanks Alaska. There is no big egos, no fancy gears , and no populated crags in the film. It is a community driven, all about sharing story. It is the Alaska way of climbing. 🧗‍♀️ Hope some of you will like it, share it, and pass on the spirit. Cheers!

Asian communities are set on edge since the pandemic, our heart goes out to 6 Asian sisters got killed in Georgia and their families.
Our family has experienced two random hate speech incidents since the start of pandemic. First time, we didn’t even know how to react. Second time, we called 911 to report such harassment. Call your Asian friends, send them a message, and show your support by letting them know you aware the Anti-Asian hate crimes and let them know what to do when facing such things by calling 911 immediately! Made a cake to celebrate Lu’s 2020 skiing adventure! Lu is the owner of Nanshan Ski Resort in Beijing. And so called the Godfather of modern skiing in China. The freeski community in China starts from Nanshan. Lu started his skiing trip on January 28th from Japan, came to Canada in February for CMH China Heli Ski Week and has been in Canada ever since. All of the other Chinese heli skiers already went back. He is in Canada alone. Lu is in his mid 60’s categorized in the high risk group. He decided to wait for the world to be vaccinated to go home rather than staying in Chinese quarantine hotel for 2 weeks plus now China requires 28days quarantine upon arrival. Lu loves his freedom and enjoys skiing the powder in Canada. We are lucky to have him around when our around world trip postponed. It is an around world ski journey joining the around world family story. Now we are like a family of 4 with a grandpa in kitchen and on slopes. Lu is a great chef cooks us authentic Chinese food every weekend. The taste reminds us home far away. Baby Diudiu loves grandpa Lu when she never had a chance to meet the rest of our family in China.
