Many songwriters come up with a great idea and do a "quick record" to obtain a copyrighted copy of the song for the Library of Congress. I have done this many times, and use this technique for ideas that are extraordinary above the rest of the written songs. A lot of the songs posted on this site are examples of this procedure.
