Some reminders if life or business has got you down.
Take what you need:

1. Pause and Breathe
Step away for a moment to collect your thoughts. Deep breathing or mindfulness can help ground you.

2. Reflect and Reframe
Ask yourself: What can I learn from this? Shifting your mindset to see challenges as opportunities can make tough moments more manageable.

3. Seek Support
Talk to fellow business owners, friends, or a mentor. A fresh perspective or shared experience can be comforting and helpful.

4. Focus on Small Wins
Look back at recent successes, no matter how small. They can remind you why you started and what you’ve already accomplished.

5. Write It Out
Journaling or listing what’s bothering you can help untangle your thoughts and make challenges feel less overwhelming.

6. Step Away Temporarily
Take a walk, have a coffee, or do something unrelated to your business to reset your mind.

7. Break Problems into Steps
If a big issue is stressing you out, break it down into smaller, actionable tasks. Focus on what you can control.

8. Remember Your “Why”
Revisit your mission or the reason you started your business. It’s a great motivator during tough times.

9. Reach Out to Your Community
Engage with your loyal customers or social media followers. Their enthusiasm and feedback can be uplifting.

10. Practice Gratitude
Write down three things you’re grateful for about your business. Gratitude helps shift focus to the positives.

11. Rest if Needed
Sometimes, a bad day is a sign you need to recharge. Take the time to rest so you can come back stronger.

12. Give Yourself Grace
Not every day will be perfect. Accept that bad days happen and don’t beat yourself up over them.

I got to meet TWO guests in person this week - for the first time!

I always feel like I really know my guests after a bit of online stalking and then an hour of gabbing on the pod but technically I've only met a handful of them!

This weekend we went to the Ghostly Garlic Festival in Oyama and I was SO GIDDY when I realized that there was not one but TWO guests at the festival!

I had the pleasure of visiting the West Kelowna location of Kekuli Cafe yesterday- what a treat!

The first time I tried bannock at Kekuli Cafe was at the Kamloops location a few months ago. When I looked into the business, I was so excited to see that it was woman owned! I immediately invited Sharon to be on the podcast and we had such a great conversation about opening a cafe, starting a franchise, and creating a space where people can gather and share stories.

Yesterday I had a chai tea latte and a venison Bannock and OMG both were so good! Last time I had a cheese Bannock and a lavender matcha frap. I honestly don't think you can go wrong at this cafe!

Sometimes we're serious and sometimes we're silly, that's the beauty of this podcast; we explore both the ups and the downs of running a business. I've had some amazing guests on the podcast so far this year, offering unique perspectives from really different industries. The funny thing is though that even though I'm talking to someone who makes dog leashes one day, someone who makes a salad dressing the next day and then someone who makes cleaning products, we all all end up having very similar stresses and successes on our small business journeys.
