Gaynell Buffinet grew up in a small Louisiana town at the tip of the Mississippi River. She has fond childhood memories of trawling for shrimp and fishing with her dad in the swamps, always with an eye out for her former pet, Walligator.

Our second guest is Gaynell Buffinet coming to you from Louisiana.

Author Gaynell Buffenet shares her store of a walk after dark that might just be perfect for a Halloween Blue moon week. After all, the man claimed to be a secret agent- or was that private detective? - well one thing was for sure he was under cov...

Our first guest is Kaya McLaren. You can find out more about her here www.kayamclaren.com

Prior to being an author, Kaya McLaren had many diverse experiences that she continues to bring to her writing. After earning her B.A. in anthropology, she worked as an archaeologist all over the western U.S.—including Alaska and Hawaii, often living in her tent. Later, she became a massage therapist and worked in Sun Valley. When she was ready for another change, she pursued a teaching career that would last fifteen years, and would take her to the Quinault Rainforest, the wheat country of North Central Oregon, the top of Snoqualmie Pass, and the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. She taught elementary, K-12 art, and K-5 music, art, drama, and dance. During transitions, she worked as a program director at a summer camp, a wrangler on a dude ranch, a chairlift operator at a ski resort, a clerk in natural foods stores, a farmer in a garden greenhouse, and a technician in medical research and archaeological laboratories. Many of these experiences have found their way into her novels.

Both of us had new books coming out, my second collection of short stories-Sharp as a Serpent's Tooth Eva and Other Stories came out at the end of September. River's newest The Ancient Way Discoveries on the Path to Celtic Christianity came out mid-October. That's not including art projects that needed to be finished, a radio show that needs to air, audiobooks that need to be recorded, hurricanes, forest fires, and a nation being flipped upside down and pulled sideways...

Was starting a new project the sane thing to do in the middle of everything else? Probably not. But we thought if we could give everyone a place to go to escape for thirty-forty minutes, a place to laugh and feel like they're not alone, then YES-it's the perfect time.

Plus we like a dare...😉

So, you might be wondering about our logo or how we came up with the title for our podcast. We go into more detail on our second episode but I've posted these pictures to give you a visual.

On that phone call that started this new adventure, River said she thought Jaws was a great love story. She was thinking of the three men. I, being the smart aleck cynic, thought of this meme.

After laughing so hard that we almost peed our pants we decided that Wish You Were Here was THE perfect title.

You know that punch drunk kind of laughing that sneaks up on you in times of stress or exhaustion? This song had us in tears, so we decided it's the perfect song for the intro for a podcast about dating/love stories in 2020. Months of self-isolation may cause a warped sense of humor, but sometimes that's only "sense" you can find.

But we're here and you're not alone 😉.
