Each week on my home page I feature one of the books we've published. This week it's The Story of the Tour de France, Vol 1, 1903 - 1975. Bonus, David Stanley did a wonderful job voicing the audiobook version. I'm such a lucky dog.

Each week on my home page I'm posting a picture of a winner of the Paris-Roubaix bike race, in year order. This week it's 1937 winner Jules Rossi.

Jules Rossi entered Roubaix with four Belgians, each individually ambitious to win and uninterested in coordinating their efforts against the Italian.

With two kilometers to go Rossi led at such an extraordinary speed the others could not even pull alongside. The race finished in Roubaix on Avenue Gustave Delory (not the velodrome) where Rossi led out the sprint and won by several bike lengths.

Rossi was the first Italian to win Paris-Roubaix, succeeding where Gaetoni Belloni, Costante Girardengo and Alfredo Binda had failed.

Each week on my homepage I'm posting a photo of a winner of Paris-Roubaix, in year order. For this week here is a photo of the winner of the 1935 Paris-Roubaix, Gaston Rebry.
The day was rainy. Gaston Rebry was tireless in attacking the field until he had reduced the lead group to three: Andé Leducq, Jean Aerts and himself.
After a few kilometers Aerts fell off the pace. Fifteen kilometers from the finish, Leducq suffered a slow leak.
Twice he had to stop to reinflate his tire and of course Rebry, "The Bulldog", didn't wait for the fast-sprinting Frenchman. Rebry earned his third Paris-Roubaix victory, tying Octave Lapize.

Each week on my home page I feature one of the books we've published. This week it's one of our most popular books, Les Woodland's "Paris-Roubaix: The Inside Story".
Les Woodland tells the inside story: how one of cycling's classics grew from several 19th century businessmen's plan to bring cycling to the mill town of Roubaix. It wasn't a sure thing, and several times it seemed the race might die. It's a fascinating tale, so fasten your seat belts, Les is going to take you on a bumpy ride.
