Update to the updates
Hey y'all, Donna here. I know it seems like you aren't getting much more than updates about what is in the pipeline and notably not in your feed lately, and I want to give you an explanation so you have a better idea of what is going on.

I have been living with a chronic illness for 10 years now, and that pretty much dictates everything else in my life. It is a situation where medications sometimes don't help much, and I end up in bed for extended periods of time instead of doing literally everything else in my life.

I haven't been able to work because remote and 100% flex opportunities were thin on the ground until the pandemic, but now I have a little job that fits exactly what I need. The good thing is that I can now make a little money and have some dignity back, the bad news is that it takes the energy that I used to spend on other things, like making art, and creating a podcast.

So, the upshot is, I don't know what the future looks like for this pod. I want to keep making it, we still have stuff in the pipeline and there are still plans, but I can't release on any sort of predictable schedule like I wanted to, and that doesn't look like it's going to change in the future. I am not even sure we can commit to the National Podcast Posting Month in November this year like we wanted to. Last year was so fun I really want to do it, but it took at lot out of me even then, with a bit of help from cohost, I can't picture being able to do that again.

The plan is to hopefully get a lot of it recorded beforehand, and for the cohosts to just record their own stuff and put it in the mix, which is great, but remember they also have full time jobs and their own podcasts/hobbies/lives as well, and now there are some broken computers in the mix and no clear idea on when that will be fixed.

I'm hoping to get there. I love this show. I love the people who listen to this show. I'm not going anywhere for now, but I'm letting y'all know what is going on so you don't think we are podfading. If I decide to shut it down forever, I will tell you. I will make the call and we won't fade, we'll shut it down.

But, we'll see how it goes. I would like to take the rest of the year to see if we can find a way to do this that takes into account new circumstances and leaves me some time to paint and draw as well.

Second, update!

We hope you liked the recent journal entry we got from Cotton Shorts, he left a slightly grubby note for us saying he was going to try and do this as a regular thing if I think it's a good idea. I sent him a postcard confirming that we'd love to hear from him! So cheers to that!

We are trying to get an episode of The Opossum's Lair to you soon, Moss has come down with Covid and his computer died in the same week so he hasn't been available. If he isn't better soon we'll try to do a Lair maybe with a guest! We'll see what we can arrange.

Third! Donna has a job now, like a real one that takes up time and energy and pays money, so, yay for that, but boo because it removes time to develop and edit content. Sorry 'bout that. We are doing what we can and we appreciate you hanging on with us.

Fourth! Soon we might start streaming some animal-themed video games on the channel "Atlas Boo Gamer" on YouTube. We are all working out the details of who is going to do what but it is in the future. We thought it might be nice to see some of these games for yourself before you decide to get them for your family. First games to be played will be "I Am Fish", "Yono and the Celestial Elephants", and Cat Interstellar!

There will be a regular episode about Nudibranchs, and hopefully a new Animal Class Episode recording in the next month, and our first Science Update, which will be about Elephants!

A few days ago, Stacey Frost from "Rough Giraffe" and "Run With Me On This" joined Donna for a 2 hour special where we chatted about the animals of the United Kingdom. Look for that episode some time in June.
