FADEC (Foreign Affairs Decrypted) is a platform that aims enable young experts in international relations the freedom and reach to voice their opinion to topics close to their hearts. Our goal is to grant young voices visibility in the debate on current foreign and security policy issues and to help shape public discourse.
The long-term goal is to establish FADEC as an online platform to provide not only interested readers with an opportunity to independently inform themselves about current events in international relations, but also to strengthen democratic discourse and to promote the visibility of the younger generation and their ideas.

FADEC is positioning itself to cover the gap between classical newspaper articles and in depth research papers and think tank articles, which often take months of research time by full-time staff. In concrete terms, this means that the articles appearing on the website are aimed for both a specialist academic and non-academic audience. The goal is to provide an „educated opinion“. A commentary based on in-depth research and prior possessed expertise and knowledge that consciously combines factual research with the author’s own opinions in order to position oneself in the public discourse. FADEC sees itself as a non-partisan platform and would like to consciously allow democratic voices from all political spectrums, who are standing firmly on the ground of democracy and democratic values.

The opinion, which is represented in the published contributions, is accordingly only and alone the opinion of the authors. FADEC sees itself as a platform to give visibility and relevance to these young voices in the debate. The topics are hence an independent choice of the authors and refelect their position on international affairs trying to decrypt the complexity of current international affairs.
