Let's share the gospel message!
This here, what you’re holding, is what Christians call a ‘tract’. It tells you the good news of the gospel. Likely you’ve heard it before; you may have even gone to Sunday school. If you’ve been put off Christianity because of things that Christians have said or done, I am really sorry.
There’s a lot Christians need to apologize for, like, love of money, exalting oneself above another, being judgemental, not practicing what’s been preached, looking righteous on the outside but being hypocritical and lawless inside. These are things Jesus told us NOT to do.
Jesus commanded us to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. He commanded us to love one another, to love our enemies, to forgive others, to not even look at someone lustfully, to sell everything, give to the poor and follow Him. He told us not to follow man but to follow God, and to not lust after things of this world because we have been taken out of it.
But why bother? You know, why bother looking into what the Bible says? The Bible is not a handbook for good behavior, although that’s what happens when you let Christ rule your life. No, it’s much, much more than that. It’s talking about eternity.
The Apostle Paul (one of Jesus’s followers whose many writings ended up being used in the New Testament) wrote: “For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness, but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 22-24)
So, what is this gospel message? It is this:
Jesus Christ (who is God) died to save You.
This may not make sense to you. In fact, if your life hasn’t been turned around by Christ himself, then this has not made sense to you. Therefore, I plead with you to read the Bible, to grapple with the Lord, to bring all your burning questions to Him. Jesus said “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Matthew 7:7) Seek truth with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and be prepared to die unto self.
It is the job of a Christian to spread the seed of the gospel, and if and where possible, to help nurture that growth. Yet it is Jesus Christ who makes it happen, and it is you, the individual, who makes the choice. Nobody else can do it for you.
I pray that you may seek and be found.
May the Lord of eternal glory be with you. Amen.
