The beginning. This crazy adventure started for us with rearranging the furniture in our home. I grew up striving to meet everyone else's expectations of me. So when we first moved in, I, as programmed, set up the living room and dining room as you would typically expect. Then our little one entered the picture. My 9-5 became a torturous separation from my favorite human. Me. The one who never wanted kids, couldn't bare the thought of someone else raising my child. We started to accumulate a collection of strollers, toys, books, and other infant/toddler necessities and I realized our home had so much wasted space. The dining room sat mostly unused and cluttered with overflow from the rest of the house. My husband spent 12-14 hours a day at work, and while I never wanted kids, he was born to be a dad. So when he got home, he wanted to snuggle up with our little on the couch. Or play with them for a bit before bedtime, as he would be off to another grueling day at work long before the little woke up for the day. So the dining room table just took up space in a room that wasn't suited to our life. So I fixed it. I was so much happier with it after a friend helped me rearrange. It felt more like home, and fit our needs much better. But my husband was still missing out on so much. We started talking about things we could do, or change to get him more time. Originally, our idea was to sell our home in a ridiculously high housing market, and purchase something somewhere with a lower cost of living. The idea being he could work less and spend more time with us. Somewhere in our discussions it evolved into this adventure, and a week after these pictures were taken, we met with our realtor about putting our first home on the market.
