UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) has advised Socialist Party president Fred M’membe to undertake a self-introspection on why some of his party members are seemingly questioning his leadership, rather than accuse the governing party of sponsoring the disintegration.

UPND deputy media director Sikwindi Situla says Dr M’membe should learn to take responsibility for his own failures as opposed to peddling accusations against UPND.

Dr M’membe, in his recent post on a page, accused the ruling party of wanting to destabilise Sociality Party, as well as discrediting him as a leader after information went round that his party member, Kelvin Kaunda, attempted to dethrone him.

ā€œDr Fred M’membe should take a leaf from what happened by asking himself ā€˜what is it that is causing this kind of problems’? Because, recently, Antonio Mwanza left the party to form his own, and was that caused by the ruling party?ā€ Mr Situla wondered.

He said UPND is far away from Socialist Party decision-making points, therefore, its internal wrangles cannot be attributed to it.

In an interview, Mr Situla advised Dr M’membe to understand that in any political organisation, there is fall-in and fall-out.

Mrs. Nyambe Intensifies Voter Registration Sensitization in Kaoma
By Idah Livingi
Kaoma, Western Province – 4th November 2025

UPND Senior Cadre, Mrs. Floriana Nyambe, has intensified voter registration sensitization activities in Western Province, with visits to Namaloba and Kashamu wards in Kaoma District.

During her engagement with community members, Mrs. Nyambe urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, emphasizing the importance of participating in shaping the nation’s democratic future.

She noted that the people of Kaoma have continued to benefit from various development initiatives under the UPND government, saying the continuity of such progress depends on citizens turning out in large numbers to register and vote.

However, the exercise was not without challenges. A resident, Mr. Sikumba Kalaluka, complained that the voter’s card he received had a blurred photo. When he reported the issue to the registration officer, he was advised to report the matter to the police station a response that left many community members questioning the presence and role of police officers at registration centers.

Another resident, Mr. Ndumba Mushongo, expressed concern that some ECZ officers were allegedly charging K2,500 to older citizens seeking voter cards, while those replacing lost NRCs were reportedly facing similar charges. He wondered where such funds were being directed.

Mrs. Nyambe acknowledged the grievances and assured the community that she would present the concerns to the ECZ Chairperson, Mrs. Mwangala Zaloumis, for immediate attention.

Speaking at the same event, Senior Induna of the area encouraged all eligible citizens to register, underscoring that voter registration is the foundation of meaningful participation in national development.

Meanwhile, Kashamu Ward Councillor, Mr. Mubutu Mwangelwa, thanked the UPND government for the unprecedented development in his area, including the construction of the first-ever secondary school and improved access to clean water and electricity through the Rural Electrification Authority (REA).

Councillor Mwangelwa said despite Kashamu Ward being one of the most remote in Kaoma, it is now enjoying the fruits of development brought about by the current administration.

A Clinic Built from the Heart: The Story Behind Kashamu’s Lifeline

By Idah Livingi
Kaoma, Western Province – 4th November 2025

The dusty roads of Kashamu Ward in Kaoma lead to a clinic that is more than just a building it is a symbol of love, sacrifice, and a promise fulfilled.

UPND Senior Cadre Mrs. Floriana Nyambe visited Kashamu Clinic, the only health facility serving the people of the area a clinic that carries not only medical importance but a story that deeply touches the hearts of many.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Nyambe shared the emotional history of the facility. She narrated that during the Kaoma by-elections years ago, President Hakainde Hichilema, then an opposition leader, visited the district. But following a directive from the late President Michael Sata, Hichilema was ordered out of Kaoma.

In those tense moments, it was the people of Kaoma ordinary men and women who stood by him. They hid him, protected him, and helped him find his way through the villages of Kashamu.

It was then, Mrs. Nyambe recounted, that President Hichilema discovered the people’s biggest cry the lack of a health facility. Deeply moved by their struggle, he made a personal decision that would change Kashamu forever.

ā€œWith his own resources, without government support, Hakainde Hichilema built this clinic so that the people of Kashamu could access medical care,ā€ Mrs. Nyambe said emotionally. ā€œThat act of compassion continues to save lives to this day.ā€

Years later, the clinic still stands strong not just as a healthcare centre, but as a reminder of a leader who cared long before he became President. Mothers, children, and the elderly now have a place to turn to in times of sickness, and the people say the spirit of the President lives in the walls of Kashamu Clinic.

Area Councillor, Mr. Mubutu Mwangelwa, expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Hichilema and the UPND government for their continued commitment to improving lives in remote communities.

ā€œWhat the President did for us will never be forgotten,ā€ he said. ā€œHe gave us hope when no one else listened. Today, through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the clinic is being renovated, and two staff houses have been built ready for handover. This is what true leadership looks like.ā€

For the people of Kashamu, the clinic is more than bricks and mortar it is a story of faith, courage, and a leader’s love for his people.

PF MP KAMPAMBA MULENGA DEFENDS COOPERATION WITH UPND, SAYS DEVELOPMENT COMES BEFORE POLITICS
By Idah Livingi

Lusaka, 3rd November 2025 — Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament for Kalulushi, Hon. Kampamba Mulenga, has defended her decision to work closely with the UPND Government, saying national development should rise above partisan politics.

Speaking during Crown TV’s Spotlight Programme, Hon. Mulenga said her stance is not a shift in political allegiance but a commitment to serve the people of Kalulushi effectively. She emphasized that collaboration between the opposition and the ruling party is essential if Zambia is to achieve sustainable growth.

ā€œI was elected to deliver development to Kalulushi, not to fight endless political battles,ā€ Hon. Mulenga stated. ā€œWhere there is good leadership and genuine progress, it deserves support. My people care more about clean water, better schools, and jobs than about political noise.ā€

She pointed out that under the expanded Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and the decentralisation policy championed by President Hakainde Hichilema, local communities are seeing visible progress from renovated clinics and new classrooms to youth and women empowerment initiatives.

ā€œKalulushi is transforming. The results are there for everyone to see. Funds are being managed transparently, and projects are touching lives,ā€ she said.

Hon. Mulenga also praised President Hichilema’s governance approach, describing it as focused on delivery rather than division. She said the President’s policy of decentralisation has given power to the grassroots, enabling communities to decide their own priorities.

Turning to her party colleagues, she urged the opposition to offer constructive checks and balances rather than outright hostility, warning that constant negativity only alienates citizens.

ā€œOpposition doesn’t mean obstruction,ā€ she said. ā€œWe can challenge the government where necessary but also support what is working for the people. That’s true leadership.ā€

Hon. Mulenga reaffirmed her loyalty to the PF but stressed that her first duty is to the people of Kalulushi, adding that cooperation should never be mistaken for defection.

ā€œAs 2026 approaches, my focus remains clear to deliver development and unity. Zambia needs leaders who put citizens first, not those chasing political headlines,ā€ she concluded.
