I have to say these babies grow so fast!!
I have to go back to check the dates in those footages, but then I’m like “wow, this goes quicker than I thought!!!”
I will add in my story a previous reel when I show how I planted those seeds back in Oct if you missed it.
Most of the seeds are from an import from @karteldaun @karteldaun.eu but I also added a batch from @curiousplantguy and 1 seed I got from @smukhi.nl
All of them are doing super great. I’m pretty happy with this seedling tray (link in bio)
Growing anthurium seeds need patience but same time is fun and rewarding. In addition, price is more affordable. But of course there is the risk not every seed will germinate and make it through to a mature plant. Luckily, all of the 3 sellers are providing germinated seeds, which reduce the risk a great deal.
Would you consider trying when building your anthurium collection?

Maranta Propagation
I would not say I’m friends with Marantas, they always gives me yellow crispy leaves from time to time. But I still think they are easy as they are very easy to propagate.
I normally cut them in between the nodes when some of them grow leggy and then stick them in water. They can live in water for quite awhile, so I ended up quite a few rooted cuttings. Adding those cuttings into the mother pot is a great way to make a busy plant.

What substrate do you prefer?
Leca is out there for semi-hydro quite a while now. I normally use it as part of my soil mix to increase drainage. This experiment to grow anthurium in leca is inspired by @plantstagram.ish . All her alocasia are in leca and looks super neat and happy.
Because leca is an inorganic matter. At the end of the day, the success will down to what will be the water level and how to fertilize.
For now, I do not let the roots directly touch the water. I plant the seedling about 1/3 from the bottom and use that 1/3 as a water reservoir. I will top up the water every time I see the water level be low (aka less than 1/3). If the roots grow into the bottom then I will see what I can do next.
The liquid fertilizer for hydroponic will be what I recommend. But as I’m only starting I will use my normal liquid fertilizer only after I see the plant establishing and growing new roots or leaf.

What substrate do you prefer?
My experiment start first with Pon. It’s getting more and more popular these day.
What is “Pon”? it refers originally to the Lechuza Pon made by the German company Lechuza, it’s a special type of growing medium or substrate designed for use in self-watering planters designed by the same company.
But now it refers to a general growing medium not only the substrate from this specific company.
It is a lightweight, mineral-based granulate that helps provide optimal water distribution and aeration for plants.
It is primarily composed of pumice, zeolites, and lava rock. These minerals provide excellent aeration and drainage for plant roots while also retaining moisture when needed. It is specifically good for plants which love well draining environments like most of the aroids
I’m a very traditional person so it is the first time I put my plant in full Pon environment
I used a pre-mix from @soil.ninja and tried with the baby plant #alocasiawatsoniana I recently purchased from @stekjesenzo
The key is to clean the soil thoroughly so the plant can be easily transitioned to this semi hydro environment.
Another benefit after the change is that it is really aesthetic. And you can see the roots clearly through the glass. I’m still learning and I will update how I maintain and how this plant is doing in Pon soon.
Please share any of your experiences regarding this substrate in the comments 🌱

Hoya bloom 2023 growing season 🎊
I can say I’m a happy proud plant parents in terms of Hoyas in this growing season.
Partly because I started most of my Hoya collection about 2 years ago and I bought cuttings or small baby plant and this is the year they grow bigger and mature.
Regarding their care, Hoya is not that fussy about things.
🌱 well draining soil, and do not let them sit in water for long, as that will rot the roots. Make sure let the soil dry out in between waterings.
🌱 they are not picky about humidity, can live in common room condition
🌱 I give them plenty of bright light or indirect sun light. Some Hoya will turn beautiful red color if get sun stress
🌱 if you want the bloom, try not to cut the long vein, instead give them support, a stick to let them climb or a trellis

Begonia Sinbad propagation 👇
This is another video on cane begonia propagation, they are just so easy to root and grow. This time is my begonia Sinbad. This is one of my favorite pokadot begonia, I have grown it from a tiny one leaf cutting I got last growing season when I’m so scared it won’t live. But it’s actually pretty easy to take care.
This is the first time I chopped it, based on my propagation experience on similar other cane begonia, I was pretty confident it will regrow in no time.
And it didn’t disappoint me, I will post in my stories later where you can already see its roots (I cut it two weeks ago)
So far water propagation works the best for most of the cane begonias, Sinbad is no exception in this case.
Happy Growing!

‼️root millies‼️
They are so so annoying but I think the home made solution actually worked and I haven’t seen them since. Here is how 👇
🌱 I mixed dish soap together with paraffin oil in 50 Celsius warm water and soak the plant in it
🌱 I used a cosmetic product which has paraffin oil as an main ingredient
🌱 the water need to be warm but not that warm to harm the plant, so you need to strike a balance
🌱 be aware that some plants are more sensitive and may experience shock (dropping leaves etc) after this. The youngest top leaf of this Hoya has dropped a week later after I treated the plant with this solution.
Most of you suggested me not to cut the new leaves immediately as a solution after I saw those bugs. And I also haven’t had time to repot it yet but thankfully I haven’t seen any more root millies on this Hoya.
Hope this helps others who struggling with root millies too. If you try let me know your results.

Labisia Propagation 👇
My labisia is not super happy in my terrarium, it grows leggy but at the same time seems having sun burn spot on the leaves. Anyhoo I want to propagate it and start over but surprising there is not too much information out there about its propagation. So this is the experiment I have done and you can see in the video the results are pretty good
🌱 take stem cuttings with a pair of leaves and stuck it in moss
🌱 take a single leaf and cut in half vertically through the main vein (similar to begonia leaf cutting method) and stuck the sides with the main vein in moss.
🌱 stem cutting with single leaf in moss
🌱 stem top cutting in moss
Actually after about 2 months, all of them are rooted. The stem cuttings are growing faster than the leaf cuttings and new small leaf are already emerging.
All cuttings are in a plastic container with lid, so humidity is very high.
Hope this helps anyone who is wondering about the Labisia propagation as well. Overall, the conclusion is that, it is very similar to begonia, all parts of the plant can be propagated and have the potential to grow into a new plant! How amazing is that!
Drop any questions you have in the comments.

Begonia Lucerna Propagation Updates 👇
I must admit this is the most easiest begonia to propagate, in my experience the fastest result is in water (rooted in about 1.5 weeks)
Now the cuttings are fully rooted so I can pot them up. One of the top cutting is having less roots tho If you watch carefully. But as it’s growing new leaf also, I’m not worried to already move it to soil as well.
I will link the earlier reel where i did the cut in my story if you are interested.
The whole process is a good way to fix a leggy cane begonia and regrow it into a bushier plant.

Just want to show of my Hoya Mathilde
A few bloom left after the bud blast (see my guide on what is bud blast and how to prevent them). Very sweet smell of the bloom even tho only a few left.
The shape and color of the foliage is 💯 charm and the flowers are the cherry on top. It does remind me of a creamy fluffy cake 😂 🎂
Hopefully next time I will have a full ball of flowers.
By the way, in China, we call “Hoya” as “Ball Orchids” #球兰 now I realized that was trying to describe the shape of the Hoya flowers clustered together resemble a ball shape 😀

Who can resist Hoya Kerrii?⤵️
Meet the Hoya Kerrii, also known as the ‘Sweetheart Plant.’ Its heart-shaped leaves are not only adorable but also symbolize love and devotion. This low-maintenance succulent is a perfect addition to any plant lover’s collection, bringing a touch of charm and affection to your indoor garden.
I had this one from last Nov, it was not doing anything until this growing season. When it started to grow, I realized the leaves are so huge and it is also have a splash on the leaves. Can’t wait to see it grow taller and bloom in a year or two.

What will be your key words to describe the Philo. Micans?
With the right angle of the sun shine, its too beautiful to look at.
A lot of people compare the Micans with Melanocrysum. Back then milano is pretty pricy compared to Micans. I really think they are so look alike and Micans is definitely a good alternative!

Why I don’t use moss pole instead ⬇️
It’s very popular among plant people to put their climbing plant on a moss pole. I was not a fan tho because after doing a few research and hearing it from multiple people’s experiences. It is really high maintenance to keep the pole constant hydrated and I didn’t have that time.
So most of the philodendrons when they grow higher I just give them a stick.
Until I tried with this coconut fiber pole, it functions the same with a stick, but it is more steady, and visually aesthetic.
Of course you trade off the opportunity the plant rooting into the moss and actually grow attach to it. But yeah, for me this works better after assessing pros and cons.
If you are as lazy as me, this can be a good alternative to a moss pole 😂

Do you grow your Syngonium in water?⤵️
I rooted my syngonium mango allusion and syngonium albo cuttings in water. But I was too lazy to move them in soil and I discovered that they are really doing good in water. The leaf size and variegation doesn’t impact.
So for those who like to try water culture, syngonium is a good plant to try out.
In regards to grow plant in water, one is to add nutrients from time to time as the water does not sustain the plant with what it needs compare to soil. Two is to change water every few days to prevent rot.
Not all plants will be easier in water, but syngonium is definitely one that’s stay strong and neat.

Happy weekend and let’s have some fun!
This is a true story 😂 Let me know plant peeps if any of you relate. I can’t help laughing at myself.
It is fun to grow plants from wetsticks. It is probably the most enjoyable propagation process but also needs a lot of patience. I thought both wetsticks are monstera pinnatipartita so when I saw this variegated leaf, my heart pumped and I think I got SUPER lucky that my plant just start variegation out of a sudden 😂 as I have never heard of variegated Monstera pinnatipartita 😂 😂 of course it’s too good to be true.
Anywoo, I will update the Monstera Pinnatipartita propagation soon, yes, that wetstick came back to life.
The other leaf, I think maybe it’s an ablo syngonium 🤷♀️ no idea how it ended up there. But at least it makes me laugh at myself.
Do you know what is a wetstick? Have you ever mix your wetstick so the plant grow out of it will be a surprise for you 😂 😂. Leave a comment and let me know.

Give my Zygopatelum orchid a second chance ⤵️💚
Zygopetalum orchids often also referred to as “Zygos”. They have beautiful blue and purple flowers. Native to the rainforests of Central and South America, these orchids thrive in moderate to high humidity environments. Though I grow my in living room condition. They prefer bright, indirect light.
This zygos I had is always struggling somehow, and what makes it worse is my cats eat it 😂
I want to give it a second chance after adjusting some care routines. I’m now moving it to orchids bark to keep it moist but not too wet. Previous I planted it in soil, maybe it’s not a good choice.
In the video I said I let the substrate sitting in water, just want to clarify I meant I soak the bark when I water the plant. About 15min, I will drain the water out.
Finger crossed it may come back and one day to see the beautiful bloom again.
Overall, Zygopetalum orchids are a wonderful addition to any orchid enthusiast’s collection, showcasing elegance and beauty while rewarding attentive care with stunning blooms.

Dark Alocasia? ⤵️
If you seek a little special among all the greens. Then take this alocasia Yucatan Princess. The leaves can grow big and the more mature it becomes, the darker the color of the leaves. Also the stem and backside of the leaf vein is pinkish. How cool is that. You may say this assembles alocasia pink dragon. I would say the veining on Yucatan Princess is more evident.

How to grow Stephania Eracta blub? ⤵️
Patience is key.
I planted the bulb in Apr with the expectation it needs 4 months (max) to grow some leaves.
5 weeks mark, I saw the first sign of sprouting with a small green lump. I was excited, hoping the process start speeding up.
3 months now, 2 green lumps and still no sign of leaves 😭
The bulb is in cactus soil with a lot of pumice. I water every 3 weeks, I used a plastic lid as a dome to increase humidity hoping to speed up the process. It receives bring light and but no direct sun being close to a south facing window.
I’m looking forward to have a leafy update soon. :) the planting and 5 weeks mark reel you can see in my guides.

🌱Roots out of the pot is a sign your plants need a bigger pot so all the roots can be covered in soil to get better nutrients and the plants grow bigger.
Hurry up before the growing season finishes 😀
Let me know if you want to see a video how I repot this guy, I guess it will be a challenge to untangling these roots and that’s why I delayed it again and again and it’s getting more and more difficult to untangling. 🥑Avocado Bonsai🥑
Sounds interesting? Then I can tell you, it is indeed interesting, I like to eat avocado and sprout avocado, and do something artistic with it, is another level.
The stem is pretty soft, so I actually used the smallest size of wire. As first time bending the stem, the only thing I’m afraid is to snap the whole thing off.
But that’s the magic of a bonsai wire, when applied, it adds so much flexibility to it.
This project is good for practicing, the worst case is I need to sprout another avocado 😂 . It adds a bit variety and uniqueness to what you can buy from shops.
Comment below if you are attempted to try? If you want to know how I sprouted this avocado (or many other avocados) from beginning to end, please also let me know, so I can record that as well. ( I personally don’t like the method of using toothpicks and poke holes on the avocado, it’s just not beautiful 😂)

Anthurium Pollination 🪴⤵️
This is my first time doing the pollination!!! So excited. I have been collecting the pollen and stored in my freezer. Rubbing the spadix is easier than I thought. Can you imagine the difference on size between a seedling and a mature plant for this magic type of Anthurium- Anthurium Veitchii?
I can not 😂. I’m fancy one but of course I don’t have the space for a mature plant. So it’s not a bad idea to get a baby. The seed has sprouted since last autumn. It was in moss all the time as I haven’t had the chance to repot. So it doesn’t grow much in size.
After this transfer and have it live in the right medium, I’m looking forward to see it grow bigger (but not too big 😂)

Will Syngonium survive the bare stem? ⤵️
Well, the answer is yes. As part of the propagation 4 months ago, I’m glad I didn’t throw away the bare stem. Back then, this little Syngonium is really struggling, all leaves turned yellow and deteriorating day after day.
But cut all leaves from stem is a bold move from me.
Sometimes, we reset and start from fresh.
Plant care is not all about techniques, it’s also about faith and patience.
What do you think of it after 4 months new start?

It also doesn’t need a pole as it crawls, I planted mine in a rectangular pot to give it space to crawl and develop. It’s a slow grower though, does it worth your patience to wait for a month or two for a leaf to unfold? My answer is yeeees!

Philodendron Mameii ✨
I almost gave up on this plant as it becomes more and more ugly month after month because of several pest damage. I chopped it down to only sticks and yet it has another infestation
But it still is living and trying to thrive and reward me with the best possible leaf it can produce.
I have to say, I learn from my plants.
