The beauty of reflections! While walking by the lake one morning, I took this picture, not noticing at the time that it reminded me just how important it is to reflect upon our lives All last season, we discussed the parable of the sower and the seed. We even summed up the entire parable in our Season Finale, "Reflections in the Mirror." So, if you missed it, check it out here: https://raisinggodlywomen.buzzsprout.com/1792483/10767017-season-one-finale-reflections-in-the-mirror!

Just like it was important to take time to reflect on our season, I've found it's also important to my spiritual walk to reflect on the condition of my heart, because it determines the course of my walk with God. So, every year, I like to tend to the seeds God has planted in the soil of my heart, by looking back over what He's taught me, what I've learned, where I am in the growth process, what adjustments I need to make, and what, if any, seeds are ready for harvest. The last few years I've been using the same devotional that highlights various traits and the state of my soul when it comes to those traits. Each year I find it interesting to see where I was, whether or not I've taken steps forward, taken steps backwards, or not taking any steps at all. This is especially helpful this year as we prepare to launch into our episodes on the armor of God.

And on that note, I leave you with this something to ponder: If we don't know where the seeds of God's Word is falling in the soil of our heart, how will we know what armor pieces we do or don't have on?

Knowing where God’s Word lands in the soil of our heart helps us know how to put this into practice!

Knowing where God’s Word lands in the soil of our heart helps us know how to put this into practice!

I want God’s Word to change me. But if I don’t apply it to my life I won’t be changed.

That’s because inspiration and information without personal application will never amount to transformation.

Romans 12:2 reminds us to be “transformed” by the renewing of our minds. That renewing isn’t a brief spiritual inspiration that comes from brushing up against the truth. It is a heart softened by God’s truth and a life transformed by the application of His truth.

What’s a truth from God’s Word that you’ve been challenged to live recently? Let’s be determined that today is the day for intentionally living His truth.

A Godly Lifestyle

Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. . . . These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good.Titus 2:3-5

This passage exhorts those who are older to lead by example and to mentor others in living a godly lifestyle. But you don’t have to be a senior citizen to be a Titus 2 man or woman! If you have been married a few years, you could mentor an engaged couple or disciple a college student. If you are experienced in finances or business, your wisdom would be valuable to a young person. If you have older children, you could encourage a young mother in child rearing and homemaking, help with her kids, and be an example of a godly mother.

This kind of lifestyle is useful for two reasons: being faithful in our ministry with home and family brings honor to God, and mentoring others builds up the body of Christ, which also honors him. But merely having good intentions about showing others how to live won’t do it. We need the grace of God to equip us and then to show us how to pass on what we know to others. Do you know someone who could benefit from your experience—both practically and spiritually? Begin to build a relationship with that person today.

LORD, I want to be a person who with strong faith, love, and patience helps others younger than myself live godly lives. Since I can do nothing apart from you, I ask for your grace and the power of your Holy Spirit to fill me and teach me how to be a Titus 2 person, a shining example who mentors others in living a life that honors and glorifies you.

A good example is the best sermon.
Sir Thomas Fuller (1608–1661)

The One Year Bible Readings for today are Jeremiah 51:1-53; Titus 2:1-15; Psalm 99:1-9 and Proverbs 26:17.

Perspective is a powerful thing! In this soundbite from Wayside Wendy, Alexandria shares how our perspective determines whether we're in a "fixed mindset" or a "growth mindset." The link to all the episodes is in our bio.

What about you? Are you in a fixed mindset or a growth mindset? Let's talk about it in the comments below. We'd love to hear from you.

How do you respond when God doesn't show up how you think He should. Take a listen to this short clip from the episode on Rocky Raquel where Khara introduced the importance of being selective. We can be selective about what we choose to believe and what we choose to obey. But, if we choose to go our own way, we will end up unsatisfied. Now, that's something to ponder.

Take a listen (or listen again) to the full episode. The link to all the episodes is in the bio.

In the meantime, what about you? How do you know when you're responding to God's Word like Rocky Raquel?

Something to ponder in light of Season 1 and our delving into the Parable of the Sower and the Seed. What are you sowing in the garden of your mind today?

"A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless w**d seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind."- James Allen

Perspective! In this soundbite from "Thorny Theresa," we had a mother daughter episode in which we were treated to the daughter, Allie, sharing a different perspective, when she introduces the concept of seeing the Women of the Soils in a community garden! What about you? How do you see these women? We'd love to hear from you!

The link to all the episodes can be found in our bio.

Generational impact is what it's all about. Here's a brief clip from the episode on Good Ground Gabrielle (GiGi) where Charnae shares a light-bulb moment from a conversation she had with her daughter. The link to all the episodes can be found in our bio.

What about you? We'd love to hear what you learned about the Parable of the Sower and the Seed while listening to GiGi?

While we're in this time of preparing Season 2, here's a pearl shared by Charnae during the episode, "The Women of the Soils." The link to the episodes can be found in our bio.

Before, when listening to a teaching on the soils, Charnae felt disconnected from the Parable of the Sower and the Seed, because if she identified with a soil other than the good ground, she felt condemned and already defeated. What about you? Can you relate to Charnae's experience? Did you have a different experience with this parable? If so, we'd love to hear about it.

Sebra's final pearl from Season 1 comes from the finale! We spent this season taking a journey through the Parable of the Sower and the Seed and getting to know the soil of our heart! This journey was purposeful, because understanding how we are responding to God's Word impacts our ability to wear His armor. So stay tuned for Season 2: Dress for the Journey! In the meantime, be on the look out for other gems from Season 1 and maybe even a few more from every day life!

Something to ponder. I saw this browsing through my memories today, and it occurred to me, if we are to truly be godly women and raise godly women, it might be a good idea to understand the concept of free will, especially since our will greatly impacts how we respond to God’s Word. Something to ponder!

Our 8th pearl speaks to the beauty of when we're in a Wayside Wendy moment or a full-blown season! In Scripture, the number 8 speaks to new beginnings! We like to think our 8th pearl, Wayside Wendy, represents the beginning of a new journey where God is getting us ready to birth something new in and through us! As with all new things, we need understanding, and God is more than willing to provide the clarity we need. All we have to do is ask and wait!

Ephesians 3:17 (NLT): "Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong."

What does it look like to have deep roots in Christ? Well, since I do like the beach, I thought this photo was a great visual to answer that question! Just look at the size of those roots! And I can only imagine how deep they must be for that tree to still be standing. Oh that we should have roots like that digging into the truth of God's Word! Today, I pray we may be deeply rooted and grounded in His love for us, so that it overflows onto those around, for His love is the only love that truly changes lives and impacts generations!

Pearl #7 comes from our bonus episode that consolidates all the soils--all the Women of the Soils--into one episode! Our pearl speaks to the vision of Raising Godly Women, because knowing who we are and how God made us is very empowering. And when we share that with others, we empower them as well. We hope that as you study the Parable of the Sower and the Seed you will share what you learn with others and with us!

As much as I love the sound of the water as I sit on a beach--any beach--there are times I feel like a piece of driftwood that's landed in the sands of life wherever those winds and the waves of life dropped me off! How about you? Can you relate? The good news is, there's always a rock nearby that we can look to, and that rock is Jesus! Ephesians 2:20 teaches us that He is the Chief Cornerstone upon which the body of Christ is built. So, the next time the winds and waves of life are tossing you to and fro, look to Jesus and the truth of His living Word. It's in this place that we can enjoy the winds and waves without getting tossed and to and fro!

Pearl #6 from Season 1 comes from our episode on Rocky Raquel! One of the greatest challenges that faces God's children is what we choose to believe. Whenever we hear God's Word, whether it's from a sermon, reading Scripture, or something someone shares with us, we have a choice to make. Do we believe God or not? Sometimes, our belief means we adjust our ways to obey His commands. Other times, believing means we believe Him enough to receive His promise. Either way, there's a change that takes place in our heart when we choose to believe!

It's time for pearl #5! In our episode on Theresa, we had a mother/daughter duo join us, and we had a lot of fun! One of the many things that stood out in this episode is that the primary way we know we're having a Theresa moment is when we hear ourselves saying, "I'm tired!" And that feeling of tired comes from all the working and striving we do trying to please God, please others, achieve our dreams, or just make it through the challenges life throws our way! The good news is, the Father's lap is always available for us! So, next time you hear yourself saying, "I'm tired," climb up in His lap, and surrender to His rest, cause He's got you!

Welcome to the fourth pearl of wisdom from Season 1. As we began looking more closely at each of the Women of the Soils, we started with Good Ground Gabrielle (GiGi). The thing about GiGi is she can be a little intimidating, because it's easy to assume she's perfect, and no one wants that kind of pressure in life! However, the truth is, our heart was good ground the moment we accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives. I don't know about anyone else, but coming to Jesus was not an easy journey for me. I heard about Him LONG before I decided I wanted to get to know Him, and even then, it took several years before I finally gave my life to Him. So allow me to encourage you today to not discount the most important GiGi moment of your life.

Our third pearl of wisdom from Season 1 comes from an unexpected bonus episode. This episode was born out of a need to bridge the gap between episodes and was made possible by Khara's flexibility to come alongside Sebra and share what God was doing in her life! Lesson learned ...even when we don't know what God has planned, He has a plan! We just have to be flexible to go with His flow and not ours!

It's time for our second pearl from Season 1! Much like the butterfly, we go through different seasons in our lives, so this pearl is all about our perspective as we walk out this journey. And as we've learned, understanding the Parable of the Sower and the Seed helps us know where we are along the way! So, let's talk about it, because knowing where we are is usually a great place to start to figure out where we're going and how to get there! Right now, I'm in a season of waiting, so I'm not really identifying with either women yet. That will come when the next trial shows up! How about you? Which of the Women of the Soils do you identify with the most right now?

Let's talk about it! Pearls of Wisdom from Season 1 are here! Our first pearl comes from episode 1. In "The Journey Begins," Sebra shared her experience with the parable of the sower and the seed and introduced everyone to the Women of the Soils. She closed out this episode by sharing her pearl of wisdom! What about you? What have you learned about the parable of the sower and the seed?
