Unquenchable Love This is the ministry podcast for Brian Francis Hume.

Host Brian Francis Hume invites you to encounter the unquenchable love of the Godhead—the glorious Father (Eph. 1:17), the Beloved Son (Mt. 12:18) and the Spirit of Holiness (Rom. 1:4).

"and with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD." 1 Kings 18:32

Our heart burns the brightest when the fire of His passion consumes us. Is your heart burning with holy fire? Our effort to pray is futile apart from first receiving His fiery love. Elijah restored the altar. God sent the fire. Elijah prepared. God ignited.

God is still looking for altars to consume with heaven’s fire—that is, altars of the heart.

Prepare the altar of your heart to receive the unquenchable fire of Christ’s purifying love. In faith, Elijah prepared. In response to the prophet’s faith, God ignited the altar with heaven sent fire.

Remember: An altar consumed is history altered.

Decades ago I read a deeply inspiring biography on the life of Dawson Trotman. Though the touch of his personal influence spanned the globe, name-wise he is a bit obscure compared to his contemporaries of that generation. He was the founder of a ministry called The Navigators—their mission was to instruct believers in the basic tenets of biblical discipleship.

Concerning this man, Billy Graham spoke glowingly, “I think Daws had personally touched more lives than anybody that I have ever known.”

Billy Graham knew all of the greatest leaders of his generation. Why would the greatest evangelist of the 20th century make such a claim?

Daws, as he was affectionately called by those close to him, was passionately driven to instill in each believer a deep commitment to deepening their relationship with Christ through the Scriptures. In the 1930’s he aimed to reach teenage boys, which eventually expanded to discipling servicemen in the U.S. Navy located in Southern California.

One young sailor whom Dawson instructed in foundational principles of Christian growth was Les Spencer. Hours were spent together studying and memorizing the Scriptures coupled with time in prayer. This discipleship process had a deep impact on this young sailor. His shipmates took notice, inquiring how this transformation had occurred in his life. Spencer brought one of the fellow sailors to Trotman, “Teach him what you taught me.”

However, Trotman’s resolve to adhere to the biblical pattern, had an unexpected response that continues to ripple effectively through lives today: “You teach him!”

Whether it was a young middle schooler, a serviceman in the Navy, or a renowned leader in the spotlight, Daws taught with conviction a five step process that he instituted among his disciples:

-Hear the Word (Luke 11:28)
-Read the Word (I Timothy 4:13)
-Study the Word (2 Timothy 2:15)
-Memorize the Word (Psalm 119:11)
-Meditate on the Word (Psalm 1:1,2)

A deep abiding commitment to Christ requires a lifestyle that is grounded in the daily engagement in the Word of God and prayer. Dawson Trotman knew that the reach of his ministry would only go as far as the depth of commitment each one of his disciple had to Christ through the written Word of God.

Billy Graham’s conviction concerning Trotman stemmed from his undying commitment to the biblical example embodied by the Apostle Paul, found in 2 Timothy 2:2—“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”

These words parallel the words of Jesus as Matthew 28:19-20 captures in the Great Commision passage:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in1 the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Go and do likewise.

Don't allow others to dictate your response to them when they're intentionally thorny, lacking decency in order to provoke. When you react in the flesh to their tactics, they win. Instead, take every thought, every feeling captive in order to make it obedient to Christ as you respond to the instigator. In fact, ask this question: What would Jesus do?

Choose wisely. Choose the wisdom from above. Choose Jesus.

Let the goodness of God rule and reign over that hostile situation at hand. Embrace the challenge to overcome bedeviled ones with the kindness of God. Learn to disperse darkness as you behold the light of Christ's radiating face as you heed the words pennedy by Paul, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21).

Does your character speak for you even when your name is mentioned in your absence? Character forged through Christlikeness is always the best means to establishing an honorable reputation. Many fail to count the cost of a life lived without character. Purpose in the grace of God to pay the price to pursue a character of Christlikeness. And God will ensure that a reputable name reflecting one’s character prepares the way for a “good reputation” (Proverbs 22:1).

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. Proverbs 10:9

This verse has become a lifelong pursuit since the day I surrendered my life to Christ. The call to possess a heart of integrity beckoned me to “walk in the light, as He is in the light”(1 John 1:7). However, misery ensued in my soul when choices made revealed crookedness within. It was a prolonged struggle to walk in the light as I oftentimes gave into the sway of darkness through enticing temptations. At times a life of integrity seemed as if it was out of reach. In the midst of the crushing under the weight of my duplicity, I cried out for mercy.

Mercy met me on the crooked bend of my hypocrisy.

Mercy that I didn’t believe was possible simply because my sin was the exception to the rule. Others could be forgiven, but not me. How could Jesus forgive me, a man lurking on the crooked path of lust. Yet, "mercy triumphed over judgement" (James 2:13). The secure path of integrity I thought was impossible became possible “in the view of God’s mercy” (Romans 12:1). Day by day, Jesus unveiled to me the mercy heart of God that forever transformed my life, one step at a time along the straight and narrow path.

Through the tender mercies of the Father, we are prepared to walk scure paths with hearts of integrity that reflect Christlikeness in a world of depravity.

With a new iPad gifted to me for Christmas by my parents, I'm delving into reading e-books. In this last stretch of life, I've not been able to read my books due to the challenges with my vision. With a personal library of 1,500 books, this has been quite tough. With the iPad, I can enlarge the font size while also utilizing dark mode that is much easier on my eyes due to the black backdrop with white font. This contrast allows me to read without squinting my eyes and struggling with the glare of a white screen.

My first foray into e-books is to read an autobiography by Marilyn Hickey due to a recent recommendation by Barbara Yoder. As we crossover into 2024, this quote is quite timely.

Do You Walk In White?
By Oswald Chambers

"We were buried with Him…that just as Christ was raised from the dead…even so we also should walk in newness of life." Romans 6:4

No one experiences complete sanctification without going through a “white funeral” — the burial of the old life. If there has never been this crucial moment of change through death, sanctification will never be more than an elusive dream. There must be a “white funeral,” a death with only one resurrection— a resurrection into the life of Jesus Christ. Nothing can defeat a life like this. It has oneness with God for only one purpose— to be a witness for Him.
Have you really come to your last days? You have often come to them in your mind, but have you really experienced them? You cannot die or go to your funeral in a mood of excitement. Death means you stop being. You must agree with God and stop being the intensely striving kind of Christian you have been. We avoid the cemetery and continually refuse our own death. It will not happen by striving, but by yielding to death. It is dying— being “baptized into His death” (Romans 6:3).

Have you had your “white funeral,” or are you piously deceiving your own soul? Has there been a point in your life which you now mark as your last day? Is there a place in your life to which you go back in memory with humility and overwhelming gratitude, so that you can honestly proclaim, “Yes, it was then, at my ‘white funeral,’ that I made an agreement with God.”

“This is the will of God, your sanctification…” (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

Once you truly realize this is God’s will, you will enter into the process of sanctification as a natural response. Are you willing to experience that “white funeral” now? Will you agree with Him that this is your last day on earth? The moment of agreement depends on you.

Invite from Meredith Brown for her Holy Spirit Night this Wednesday, December 13.

We are now in Advent and the Celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas! Let it be a Spirit-filled time of preparation.

I am soooo excited that we are having Brian Francis Hume once again! He has been such a gift to all of us who have sat under his ministry. Several years ago my friend, Heather Sheu, told me I had to go see Brian at "Love for the Nations" with Julie Ann Huff. A friend and I went and we were late so we ended up sitting in the front row! Needless to say, we got prayed/prophesied over first and were soooo very blessed. I ended up inviting Brian to minister at HSN and he said he would love to!!! He has ministered many times at our home and was such a blessing to everyone. Let me just say, Brian's prophecies are extremely accurate! He is the Real Deal - an excellent teacher and a wonderful man of God!

So grateful to you for coming to minister to us, Brian! So excited!!!

Ephesians 4:11-13 "So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ!"

John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them , and they follow me."

We will be meeting at the wonderful Bishop Kibby Otoo's beautiful church in Springfield, Virginia. Bishop Kibby has become a dear friend through Audrey Jones, as he has opened his church to our Glory Outpouring group of 4 to teach there and then he offered his church for Holy Spirit Night! I am soooooo grateful to this very powerful man of God who is so kind, generous and encouraging!

God bless you, Bishop Kibby! Thank you! And thank you, Joan Morain (Bishop Kibby's right hand Woman of God!) for making all of this happen.

A friend posed a great question this morning: "How does one move forward after unexpected change and unanticipated transitions?"

Immediately I thought of a key passage, Proverbs 3:5-6:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Trusting Him each step of the way is absolutely essential. What does that ultimately mean? To trust Him is to acknowledge, "he is good," (Ps. 136:1) as you walk through the unexpected changes of life. There is no such promise in the bible of a life without the storms of adversity. It is imperative that this truth concerning the intrinsic goodness of the Godhead becomes a bedrock of revelation within your soul.

Have you settled the question within, "Is God good?"

When understanding concerning God's goodness has been quarried from the depths of the Scriptures, it is deposited within us as we "acknowledge him" as good while traversing the unanticipated transitions that cause anxiety to rear its ugly head. Over time, Romans 8:28 becomes a promise forever lodged within, "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." All things aren't necessarily good, but the Father works all things together for good to bring about the purposes of His heart.

Someone needs to be reminded of Jeremiah 1:5 tonight regarding their own calling in Christ Jesus as a prophetic voice to the nations: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
