How to Set a Custom Ringtone on Apple iPhone 7 Without Third Party Apps
Step 1: Download the song you want to turn into a ringtone.
Step 2: Drag and drop it into the iTunes library.
Step 3: Right-click on it and select the 'Get info' option.
Step 4: Click on 'Options' tab and select the start and end time of the song you intend to use as a ringtone. Basically what you're doing is trimming the entire song to a particular portion (30 seconds) to use it as a ringtone.
Step 5: Then by right clicking on the song, create an AAC version in your library.
Step 6: Now, drag the song onto your desktop, rename it as required, and while renaming make sure you add '.m4r' as an extension in place of '.m4a'.
Step 7: Connect your iPhone to your PC/Mac and open iTunes. Now click on the three dots next to the iPhone symbol and click tones in the drop down menu.
Step 8: Drag the ringtone from desktop to the tones section in iTunes and sync tones to your device.
Step 9: If you've followed all the instructions correctly, you'll be able to see the ringtone on your smartphone. To set it as ringtone, head to Settings > Sounds > Ringtones and select the desired ringtone.
