How to Set a Custom Ringtone on Apple iPhone 7 Without Third Party Apps

Step 1: Download the song you want to turn into a ringtone.

Step 2: Drag and drop it into the iTunes library.

Step 3: Right-click on it and select the 'Get info' option.

Step 4: Click on 'Options' tab and select the start and end time of the song you intend to use as a ringtone. Basically what you're doing is trimming the entire song to a particular portion (30 seconds) to use it as a ringtone.

Step 5: Then by right clicking on the song, create an AAC version in your library.

Step 6: Now, drag the song onto your desktop, rename it as required, and while renaming make sure you add '.m4r' as an extension in place of '.m4a'.

Step 7: Connect your iPhone to your PC/Mac and open iTunes. Now click on the three dots next to the iPhone symbol and click tones in the drop down menu.

Step 8: Drag the ringtone from desktop to the tones section in iTunes and sync tones to your device.

Step 9: If you've followed all the instructions correctly, you'll be able to see the ringtone on your smartphone. To set it as ringtone, head to Settings > Sounds > Ringtones and select the desired ringtone.

Google Is Working on a New Operating System Named Fuchsia That Might Unify Android, Chrome OS

After the tremendous success of the Android operating system, Google is now working on a completely new OS called 'Fuchsia'. The catch, however, is that no one knows what the software is for.

The fresh OS is touted to come with a host of interesting features. To begin with, Fuchsia does not use the Linux kernel- a core of basic code that underpins both Android and Chrome OS. iI is one of the big deal

There also have been a number of suggestions about the possible implementation of Fuchsia. Some believe that it could be used to unify Chrome OS and Android into a single operating system - a plan which falls in alignment with earlier rumours about a new OS that could be released by 2017. Other possible usage could mean powering hardware like Google's OnHub router or third-party IoT devices.

The code underlying Fuchsia highlights it being a lightweight software. It is built on Magenta which is a medium-sized microkernel based on LittleKernel. It is designed to be used in embedded systems which refers to computers which have a specialised function and often do not need a full-fledged operating system, for example the software used in a digital watch.

Google's documentation indicates that the software is capable of doing more than just power hardware. It also targets modern phones and personal computers which use 'fast processors' and 'non-trivial amounts of RAM.'

The software is currently being tested on all types of systems and it is 'booting reasonably well' on small-form factor Intel PCs as well as an Acer Switch Alpha 12 laptop.

The official word is yet to arrive but given the pace of testing, a 2017 launch should not come as a surprise.

Analyst confirms 10nm architecture on MediaTek’s Helio X30

Currently, Samsung is the only company, which uses the 10nm manufacturing process. Earlier this year, there were reports about MediaTek working on a new flagship, called the Helio X30. The upcoming SoC from MediaTek will be made using the new 10nm manufacturing process.

Earlier, we had only heard rumours that MediaTek will change the manufacturing process for Helio X30, but this update adds more weight to the tittle-tattle. The MediaTek Helio X30 is supposed to feature a deca-core processor cluster.

China Enters World's Top 25 Innovative Economies for the First Time, this shows how "Make in India" is crucial for the growth of India

China has broken into the world's top 25 innovative economies for the first time, thanks to investments in education and research and development that have translated into new patents and licenses, a study said on Monday.

The world's second-largest economy is catching up to traditional innovation front-runners, who were led again this year by Switzerland, Sweden, Britain and the United States, said the annual report by the UN's World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), INSEAD Business School and Cornell University.

"That of course is in keeping with all of the developments that we have seen in China in recent years, including the current enormous emphasis on innovation as a major component in the transition of the Chinese economy from 'Made in China' to 'Created in China'," he said.

Hacking Group Claims to Auction Spy Tools Linked to the US's NSA

Hackers named themselves "Shadow Brokers" said, on Monday they will auction stolen surveillance tools they say were used by a cyber group linked to the US National Security Agency.

To arouse interest in the auction, the hackers released samples of programs they said could break into popular firewall software made by companies including Cisco Systems Inc, Juniper Networks Inc and Fortinet Inc.

The companies did not respond to request for comment, nor did the NSA.

Writing in imperfect English, the Shadow Brokers promised in postings on a Tumblr blog that the auctioned material would contain “cyber weapons” developed by the Equation Group, a hacking group that cyber security experts widely believe to be an arm of the NSA.

The Shadow Brokers said the programs they will auction will be “better than Stuxnet,” a malicious computer worm widely attributed to the United States and Israel that sabotaged Iran’s nuclear programme.

The auction will end at an unspecified time, Shadow Brokers said, encouraging bidders to "keep bidding until we announce winner."

Apple's iPhone market share slumps by 35% in India: Report

Apple CEO Tim Cook has big plans for Indian market but it seems that his company is facing tough challenges as far the sale of its iPhone is concerned.

According to a report from Strategy Analytics, the company shipped 800,000 smartphones in India in Q2 2016, compared to 1.2 million smartphones it shipped during the same quarter last year.

"Apple iOS fell 35% annually and shipped 0.8 million smartphones in India in Q2 2016. Apple's smartphone marketshare has halved from 4% to just 2% in India during the past year," Woody Oh, director at Strategy Analytics.

Woody further said that Apple needs to work on iPhone's pricing in India because cheaper devices will surely help boost sales.

"Apple iOS will need to reduce iPhone pricing to cheaper levels, attract more operator subsidies and enlarge its retail presence through Apple stores or online channels if it wants to regrow significantly in the future," Woody added.

The sharp decline of iPhone market share in India will surely disappoint Cook who sounded very bullish recently about his company's prospects in this part of the world.

Apple’s next iPhone will have Intel chips instead of Qualcomm

Tech giant Apple Inc.’s next iPhone will use modem chips from Intel Corp., replacing Qualcomm Inc. in some versions of the new handset.

Intel’s modem chips will be in iPhones used on AT&T Inc’s U.S. network and some other versions of the smartphone for overseas markets.

However, iPhones sold in China will use Qualcomm chips, and iPhones on Verizon Communications Inc’s network will also stick with Qualcomm. Qualcomm’s shares fell 1.7 percent with the news of this development while Intel shares rose up 0.3 percent.

Qualcomm Inc. is an American multinational semiconductor company that designs and markets wireless telecommunications products and service, while Intel on the other hand is one of the world’s largest and highest valued semiconductor chip makers, based on revenue.
