Thank you for the invitation to collaborate on this film project. We weren’t sure what we were getting into at the outset - I think celebrating the dead, a morgue shoot and dia de los mu***os were mentioned. Check out the film on - link in profile.

Save Bristol Bay | Tell the Army Corps of Engineers to Protect Bristol Bay

Despite continued overwhelming opposition to the Pebble Mine in Bristol Bay and the universe as a whole, their permits are moving forward at an alarming rate. Please take 1 minute to submit a comment to the US Army Corp of Engineers - the federal agency lead for permitting Pebble.

http://action.savebristolbay.org/page/speakout/tell-the-army-corps-of-engineers-to-protect-bristol-bay

Pebble recently applied for one of the major permits they’ll need to mine in Bristol Bay. Filing that application is huge news because it brings their catastrophic proposal one step closer to becoming a reality. Now, we have the first chance for you to weigh in on this process.

Along with the migrating steelhead, Oregon river pool holds life lessons

This short film is a really lovely portrait of our friend Lee Spencer [who we featured in DamNation] by Katie Falkenberg of the Los Angeles Times. Rumor has it Lee was forced to to evacuate his watch recently due to a near-by wildfire, a very rare absence on the dynamite pool. We hope to hear good news soon.

Decades ago, poachers would set off explosives in this North Umpqua River pool, killing steelhead by the dozens. That was before Lee Spencer settled in to watch over the trout.

Facebook Engineering

We spent a good chunk of 2016 helping Facebook tell their Data Center Innovation story. Its wonderful to finally see the film in the wild. The engineering behind your feed is pretty astounding when you peel back the layers. Their commitment to efficiency + renewables to drive their data centers is helping move the bar in a real way.

Huge thanks to , Allison Wolff, Kirsten McKay, , Skip Armstrong, Barry Thompson and Ben Knight for bringing your magic to the project.

Journey inside our data centers to learn how Facebook built some of the most innovative and efficient infrastructure in the industry.

We have a fun project on the horizon and we are looking to cast a wide net to find the right characters to profile. Please message us if you have any leads for the following...

We want to celebrate hard work that is real. We want folks that love their craft and take pride in it on a deep level, we need them to be able to eloquently communicate their connection to their craft and why they love working hard at it. We also want the work they do to have a net positive impact, not just produce a paycheck — think trail builder, blacksmith, artist, rancher, commercial fisherman, farmer, butcher, some one that uses their hands and body to produce something tangible; someone that wears through his or her work clothes in a season.

If you happen to be at the Crested Butte Film Festival 2016 this weekend, we're screening a new short film for the first time to see if anyone likes it. Fingers crossed! David Mangum / YETI / George Knowles / Brett Martina

We're proud to awkwardly brag that our short film Denali premiered this weekend in Carbondale and folks seemed to like it. It sure is a nervous puke-inducing feeling to show a film in a room full of people we admire, look up to and may or may not get kinda giddy every time we see them. Thank you Ben Moon Photography and Wazee Motion Pictures, it was such an honor to collaborate with you guys. Thanks for putting your faith in us.

Break the Rules: A Conversation with Ben Knight

"You have to be able to pull at people’s heartstrings. Even people who have cold, dead hearts." —bk

How far are you willing to go for your films? Ben Knight is no stranger to working around the system. The monomania that made him a bad student has turned him into a visionary filmmaker. We recently talked with Ben about his career, his activism, and how far he was willing to go to make a film about…

I was happy to survive what could have been the first source to sea descent of BC's/SE AK's Unuk River this past summer with Ryan Peterson and Gordon Klco. The watershed is almost devoid of any signs of man, but Canada has approved what could be the largest open pit mine in North America just upstream of the US border. Gordon and I also were able to help document the Mount Polley tailings dam failure this past summer, also in BC. Mount Polley was the glowing example of a modern mine operating within a salmon bearing watershed (The Fraser River System). The mine operated for just 17 years before releasing its toxic tidal wave into Lake Quesnel. Now there are over 10 large scale mines proposed on rivers originating in BC and draining into SE Alaska. Check out Ryan's Xboundary Short below.
