Big Drip Sounds - Production Tip 🏆

With the Volumeshaper plugin you can easily do a Multiband Sidechain.

This works well on basslines and synths/chords. You can sidechain the low frequencies 100% since that’s where the kicks are. The higher frequencies you can sidechain less and adjust to taste.

This way your sidechain will sound more natural and your sounds will become fuller. Don’t forget to click the lock next to the balance k**b, otherwise your frequency bands will be linked together.

Big Drip Sounds - Production Tip 🏆

You can make your mix or individual sounds wider with your EQ by Mid/Side EQ’ing.

On your EQ change mode for Stereo to M/S. Then go to edit and change the M (Mid or Mono Frequencies) into the S (Side or Stereo Frequencies)

In Side mode, add dB on the high spectrum to make it wider. In addition, decreasing the lower Side frequencies will give extra emphasis to the higher frequencies being wider, as you’re basically making the lower frequencies more mono.

Note: frequencies up to ±180 hertz should be totally mono on your master.

10 Essential Ableton shortcuts & tips

1. Split Clip at Selection: easily split your clips with CMD + E
2. Duplicate Clip: CMD + D
3. Deactivate Clip: press 0 to deactivate a clip
4. Consolidate Clip: merge clips with CMD + J
5. Loop Selection: CMD + L
6. Bypass Snap while dragging: press CMD while dragging to bypass the snap to grid
7. Renaming: when you need to rename all your tracks, move to next track by pressing Tab
8. Smoothest Warp setting: Complex Pro with formants set to 0%, this way the warped clip will keep sounding natural
9. Insert Time: instead of cutting and moving your whole project, press CMD + I to insert time
10. Save Project: very important, CMD + S 💆🏻‍♂️
