Crescent Beach in Ecola State Park, Oregon - and it's history:
At Ecola State Park, a part of the Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks, you can walk in the steps of Merriweather Lewis and William Clark, whose expedition arrived at the Pacific Ocean in November 1805. That was a year and a half after their Corps of Discovery left St. Louis, Missouri, on a mission to chart the lands newly acquired by the United States from France in the Louisiana Purchase. Shortly after arriving on the West Coast, the expedition voted to spend the winter near present-day Astoria in what is now the northern coast of Oregon, where they constructed Fort Clatsop. The collection of protected lands that commemorate the historic expedition includes Ecola State Park, as seen in this image. It’s a popular destination for visitors hoping to learn more about this pivotal chapter in United States history while also enjoying the fantastically scenic Pacific Northwest coast.
