This Friday, May 24th in Freeland, our Polka Manic, Carl Simchena will be performing with the Swingmasters... at the Freeland Public Park pavilion at 6:30 p.m. The group will feature favorites such as "Proud Mary," "Twist and Shout," "Tequila," "Margaritaville," "Under the Boardwalk," "My One And Only Love," "Polish Girl Friend Polka," "Quando Quando," "Rock Around The Clock," "Make The World Go Away" and more. The Swingmasters, pictured, are Carl Simchena on bass and vocals; Jack Belovesick on saxophone and clarinet; Dave Gonzalo on accordion; Ed Mihalik on drums; Jim Pino on saxophone, clarinet, and trumpet; and Denny Hardock on trumpet, alto saxophone, guitar, and vocals. Band leader Simchena hosts the Polka Connection Radio Show on Sundays from 9 to 11 a.m. on Gem. For Friday's concert, the Freeland Recreation Board will have the concession open featuring hot dogs, sloppy Joes, pizza, snacks, and soft drinks. All of the Friday summer concerts are free and are held rain or shine as the Pavilion is an open-air indoor venue.

Approximately 70 military helicopters will be flying through AVP's airspace this weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday).

AVP officials were informed they will be departing from the Rome, NY area in small groups, continuing through AVP's airspace to their final destination in the Philadelphia area. The times are unknown, and they could vary each day.

The public is advised that this is ONLY AN EXERCISE, and there is no need for concern.
