☀️Happy Friday! We’re really excited to share news about several new and anticipated releases!

We are excited to announce the debut LP from Lagos (.music); entitled: Milk, Honey, Sea and Sky. Lagos is the creative vision of Lashaan Everett and Jason McGuiness. Jason ( Tones, Common Goods Records), asked Lashaan to lay vocal tracks to beats he’d produced; the two joined forces and seemingly blasted off to space, never looking back. Their music often combines opposing elements; bringing booming baselines, fuzzy, drone-y guitar licks and atmospheric that combine seamlessly. This unique juxtaposition the two have created is something that makes for a listening experience quite unlike anything you’ve heard before. Grab a limited edition purple/pink splatter. Available now!

Also fresh from the plant are Jason McGuiness’ () test presses of his new album entitled, “Passages”. Passages explores the underpinnings of McGuiness’ mind during the past several months. It unfolds into beautiful work that leaves the listener filled with hopes, dreams and longing. The album features Phil Ranelin, Keyon Harold (), Jake Najor (), Matt Little (), Camilla George ()(U.K.) and Lashaan Everett (of Lagos .music). This release follow’s McGuiness’ 2019 release, Empyrean Tones. Act fast or you might miss out as there are only a handful to spare.

September 9th saw the release of the new album, “Liner Notes” by the most dexterous pianist we know; Matt Little (). We are so pleased with how incredible this debut LP is and the response has been wonderful. The color version (gorgeous golden/red hues) of the album is almost gone; so don’t sleep or you’ll miss out!

“Vocally, Lagos sounds like the calm experienced when one watches leaves float through the breeze on an autumn day; musically Lagos sits at the intersection of hip-hop beats and spacey, atmospheric ambience…”

Lagos is the creative vision of Lashaan Everett and Jason McGuiness. Jason (Empyrean Tones, Common Goods Records), asked Lashaan to lay vocal tracks to beats he’d produced; the two joined forces and seemingly blasted off to space, never looking back. Their music often combines opposing elements; bringing booming baselines, fuzzy, drone-y guitar licks and atmospheric tones that make the duo’s love of Brian Eno and Cocteau Twins clearly evident, and they combine the elements seamlessly. This unique juxtaposition the two have created is something that makes for a listening experience quite unlike anything you’ve heard before.

Everett of Sugar Violet’s (vocals/guitar) fame grew up with a love of Punk Rock, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Psych/Shoegaze. Her vocal styling has been described as “…beautiful breathy, ethereal and mesmerizing…you’re drawn in and want more”.

I've spent a ton of time working on music, trying to pass the time during all this. Collaborated with a lot of amazing people who really gave me something to look forward to with everything going on.

Really glad with how this tune turned out, Keyon recording at the height of the pandemic in NYC, Matt Little keeping me occupied with a ton of tracks & vibing out & recording a ton with Lagos.

2020 has started with a bang! A killer input of records from artists and labels we love. Here's our top 5 must-have releases this week...

1. Tino Contreras Y Su Grupo ‎ Quinto Sol - Musica Infinita – Vinyl LP.
Such a great record!!! Gilles Peterson kicks off his new re-issue record label Arc Records in style with Tino Contreras Y Su Grupo's Quinto Sol - Musica Infinita album. This Mexican psychedelia jazz rarity from 1978 has a unique vibe and is a must-have record for fans of Sun Ra, David Axelrod, and experimental music. .

2. Arthur Verocai ‎ No Voo Do Urubu – Vinyl LP

Japanese import copy of one of our favorite musicians Arthur Verocai's amazing ‎No Voo Do Urubu album from 2016, and features the musicians Seu Jorge, Criolo, Danilo Caymmi and other Brazilian greats, highly recommended.
3. Crystal Clear – Stay With Me – Vinyl 7”.
One of the best soul re-issues we've heard a while. A Japanese import copy on Universal Dessinee Records of Crystal Clear's beautiful track Stay With Me from 1980.
4. Rajan Time – Vinyl 12”.
A dope re-issue on Miss You records of Rajan's odd-ball left-field electronic-funk jewel 'Time' from 1984.
5. Jason Mcguiness Empyrean Tones – Vinyl LP.
A fantastic jazz album from producer Jason Mcguiness, featuring a heavyweight lineup of artists collaborations, featuring the mighty Phil Ranelin and Kamasi Washington, essential stuff.

🔔 OUT TODAY on all steaming platforms // Billy Prince “You’re My Angel (for Aretha)”
Billy Prince hails from Detroit and was one of the founding members and lead vocalist of the legendary soul group The Precisions.
The story of the Precisions starts back in a Detroit high school when young friends decided to form a vocal group - recording for the local D-Town and Drew labels before recording two singles on Atco. The backing tracks were actually cut by the same musicians (Funk Brothers) as the iconic Motown songs of the era, incredibly lush with huge orchestration, tales of love and heartbreak that could only have originated from the Motor City - all painted with Billy Prince's angelic voice.
The anthemic "If this is love (I'd rather be lonely)", is still a staple in the Northern Soul scene. Billy currently plays around Southern California and his new hometown of San Diego, being backed up by Colemine recording artists Sure Fire Soul Ensemble.
✍🏽The track was co-produced by Jason McGuiness () and John Michael Howcott (). Originally composed by Joel Van Dijk of The Grand Scheme ( ) and features drums from Sure Fire Soul Ensemble’s Jake Najor ( ).
