Born out of Auckland, New Zealand, TCSB is a counterculture publication that gives people a unique insight into people and stories they wouldn’t otherwise get to hear about. We pride ourselves in being on-the-ground, talking to our sources directly. This is the view from the cheap seats.

Accuracy and Fairness - our promise to readers

Fairness is mission critical for us so we’ll always give people or institutions a reasonable window to respond before we publish a story that contains significant revelations about them. This isn’t the same as mandating “balance” when one perspective on a story - like science of climate change or justification for war crimes - is clearly without merit.

We know that our writers have a point of view but do everything we can to make sure they maintain accuracy in their reporting. We expect them to be rigorous, comprehensive, and ethical in their methods; and transparent with readers about how they have arrived at their conclusions.
