The 6’5” 310 lb DT chose Ohio State over TTUN, Georgia, Notre Dame and Miami. Ohio State was considered to be a dark horse in this recruitment and seemed to seal the deal over his visit in late June. What a MASSIVE recruiting win for Larry Johnson, Ryan Day, and the Ohio State staff.

The 6’4” 215 lb TE gives Ohio State their sixteenth commitment of the 2024 class. Witten and West both committed yesterday and both attend Glenville high school where Ten Ginn Sr is their head coach. Big pickup for the Buckeyes to finish off their TE class.

Ohio State lands four-star cornerback Bryce West from Cleveland, OH.
The 5’11” 177 lb CB gives the Buckeyes fifteenth commitment of the 2024 class and their second in the secondary. This is a huge pickup for the Buckeyes keeping one of the best corners in the country in Ohio.
West is an extremely talented cornerback prospect who has the ability to play outside and in the slot. He’s excellent in man coverage and is one of the fastest players in the country, clocking a 10.57 in the 100-meter dash. Despite his size, he plays extremely aggressive and isn’t afraid to lay a hit.
Bryce is ranked as the No. 4 corner in the class and the No. 49 player in the country according to the 247 composite.

Recruiting Updates After Massive Official Visit Weekend.
Over the weekend, Ohio State hosted ten big-time prospects for official visits, There is a feeling around the program that Ohio State knocked it out of the park this weekend.

Ohio State is the clear favorite to land five-star DE Eddrick Houston. He has an OV scheduled to Alabama on the weekend of June 23rd but may cancel it. He has his commitment date set for August 22nd. I think he will be a Buckeye.

OSU is in a great position for KJ Bolden who gave his OV a 10/10. Perry Eliano is a cousin of KJ and has an excellent relationship with the rest of the staff. He is also scheduled to visit Alabama June 23rd with teammate Eddrick Houston.

Five-star DE Dylan Stewart had a fantastic visit to OSU and Bill Kuerlic said he's close to crystal balling Stewart to the Buckeyes. Ohio State is the team to beat in this recruitment.

There is genuine interest in Ohio State from five-star CB Kobe Black, despite Texas being the perceived favorite. His process has been quiet, but we will see if OSU's efforts will be enough to sway him out of Texas. His brother played for Coach Knowles at Oklahoma State.

Despite visiting this weekend, Zambien Brown and Georgia commit Peyton Woodyard seems likelier to end up at USC than at Ohio State.
•
Steve Wiltfong, Director of Recruiting for 247, said he "likes where the Buckeyes stand" for OT Guerby Lambert. He has kept his recruitment quiet, but OSU feels good about where they stand.

There are rumors that Bryce West may visit TTUN, two weeks after his OV to Ann Arbor, before his OV to Ohio State this weekend. This is something to keep an eye on.

Elias Rudolph, 4-star DE from Ohio, has canceled his visit to OSU for this weekend and will commit on July 3rd. He will likely pick TTUN.

Ohio State lands four-star safety Jaylen McClain out of New Jersey.
The 6’0” 185 lb safety gives the Buckeyes their first commitment in the secondary in the 2024 class.
The Buckeyes offered McCain in early March before visiting Columbus for the first time in April. The talented safety is now a Buckeye after his official visit this past weekend.
Jaylen is a very talented safety who can play Nickel and deep safety. He is a very fluid athlete who possesses good change of direction. He is a physical player who is a willing tackler in the run game and will battle in press at the line of scrimmage. The Buckeyes are getting a talented athlete who can play multiple spots in the secondary.
Per 247, McClain ranks as the No. 22 safety and the 243rd overall player in the 2024 class.

Recruiting Update and a Big Weekend of Official Visitors
•
Texas offensive lineman Daniel Cruz would likely be the choice if the Bucks were to take another guard. His recruitment is an OSU vs. Texas battle. Ohio State wants at least two more offensive linemen in this class.
•
After Five-star IDL Dominick McKinley's recent visit, the Buckeyes feel confident they are in a great position in this recruitment. While this battle is far from over, OSU is a top contender for McKinley.
•
Texas DE Nigel Smith took his fifth visit to Ohio State last weekend and will likely make a decision this fall. He said the Buckeyes set a high bar as this was his first official visit of the summer.
•
Wide Receiver Keylen Adams is no longer taking an OV to OSU. It is likely down to Jeremiah McClellan and Elijah Moore for the last 1 or 2 WR spots. Elijah Moore was recently crystal balled to OSU by Steve Wiltfong and Bill Kuerlic.

Following the rumors about Sam Williams-Dixon after he visited Kentucky, he confirmed that he remains locked in with Ohio State.
•
Jaylen McClain and Brandon Jacobs are two sleeper DBs to watch this summer as potential safeties in this class.

The Buckeyes appear to lead for IMG Academy DT Jayden Jackson going into his official visit this weekend.

I like Ohio State’s chances to land one of Brown or Lockhart. In-state prospect Terhyon Nichols, who just landed an OSU offer, could also end up in this class.

The Buckeyes landed three great safeties in the 2023 class, but missed on their top-of-the-board targets. It is clear that KJ Bolden and Peyton Woodyard are OSU's top targets in the 24 cycle. Outside of the top two guys, it's unclear who the Bucks' priorities are. I like the chances of in-state prospect Reggie Powers ending up in this class and Sam Williams-Dixon could also end up playing safety for the Buckeyes. There will be a lot more clarity at the safety position once these guys visit this summer.
