Mazda CX-30
So the new Mazda CX-30, Whats new?
Well you might need a small reminder of what it is. Firstly Mazda’s SkyActiv-X technology is basically a 4 cylinder, 2.0 Litre, naturally aspirated Petrol block that combines both the ignition systems of Diesel and Petrol engines into one unique and clever system. It compressed air and fuel like Diesel engines. However it also uses a small drop of Petrol just before the natural ignition occurs. This is ignited by a spark plug. This completes the job of combustion.
So history lesson over. The new Mazda CX-30 is a jumped up crossover, strategically positioned between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-5. For the cheapest/entry level model the SkyActiv-G, it costs £22,895 eventually topping to just under £33,500. This model gets the “SkyActiv-X engine”
the latter eventually tops out with the Mazda CX-30 GT Sport Tech, which starts at £27,995 featuring a 360 degree camera, driver monitoring alert system and front cross traffic alert. Additionally Mazda’s cruising and traffic support system is also included. This system automatically controls the steering, throttle and brake whilst moving through stop/start traffic and slow speeds through cities or towns.
Mazda is offering two 24V mild hybrid systems with the new CX-30. The entry level SkyActiv-G and the new SkyActiv - X.
The most powerful CX-30 is powered by the SkyActiv-X block. The one at the beginning of this post. The firm claims the performance of a petrol engine and the efficiency of a diesel. However before you buy, make sure that you know there’s a premium of £1,480 over the SkyActiv-G block.
Mazda has said that they wanted to design a car for the urban friendly environment, but still make it so that it still feels like the bigger CX-5.
