NEWS RELEASE

On April 18, 2023 at approximately 1:45 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue and Greenville Township Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Children’s Home Bradford Rd and S.R. 118 in reference to an accident with injury.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a tan 2015 Ford Ta**us driven by Tyler Plut, (31) of Union City, Indiana was traveling westbound on Children’s Home Bradford Road at State Route 118. Ms. Plut failed to yield the right of way to a southbound 1998 Chevy Malibu driven by Margret Hoening, (80) of Versailles, Ohio. Ms. Hoening struck Ms. Plut’s vehicle on the passenger side causing Ms. Hoening’s vehicle to travel off the right side of the road.

Ms. Hoening was transported by Greenville Township Rescue to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office before being transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital. Ms. Plut was transported to Wayne Healthcare by Greenville Township Rescue.


The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s office.

On April 15th, 2023 at approximately 6:13 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, Arcanum Rescue, and Medflight were dispatched to the intersection of New Madison Coletown Road and Hollansburg Arcanum Road in reference to a two vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed a gray 2017 Jeep Renegade driven by Julie Matamoros (40) of Greenville was traveling Northbound on New Madison Coletown Road and failed to yield the right of way to a blue 2020 Buick Encore, driven by a Leona Mohrmeyer (80) of Hollansburg, who was traveling westbound on Hollansburg Arcanum Road. Ms. Mohrmeyer was transported to Wayne Hospital by Tri-Village Rescue with minor injuries. Her passenger, Sandra Metzcar (78) of Hollansburg, was also transported to Wayne Hospital by Arcanum Rescue with minor injuries.

Ms. Matamoros was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Medflight with serious but non-life threatening injuries. This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office

Shawnee Township – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a
single vehicle fatal crash which occurred on Interstate 75 near Breese Road in Allen County.

On March 27, 2023, at approximately 9:57 A.M., A 2010 Ford Focus, operated by Randy E. Thompson Jr., age 22, of Lima, was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 and traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a fence and a tree.

Mr. Thompson was pronounced deceased at the scene, and was transported by H&H Funeral Services to Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home.

Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash. Mr. Thompson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
