Card games...board games...video games...puzzles. And I was lucky enough to marry a woman who loves them, too (and who is fiercely competitive). And then I went on to raise a daughter...to love games, too. It occurred to me that after all the games I've played in my life, I might have a few good ideas. And I've always loved the theme of "angelic war." So I built the game that I always wanted to pl
ay. My wife and daughter...they playtested it, and gave me some of the best ideas you'll find in it. And just like that...they became game designers, too. We're hoping that this is the game you've been waiting for, too. There are space games, and fantasy games...games with zombies, and games with vampires. But we never found the angel game we wanted...so we made it.
We had so much fun at 2D Con this year, and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY to receive an award.

We met them at 2D Con, and fell in love with their game…which I think could be best described as a kind of “Viking Chess.” Although that doesn’t really do it justice: Beautiful pieces, ingenious gameplay, deep strategy. Easy to learn, but difficult to master…and as you know, that’s OUR KIND OF GAME!

Hey Blackthorn Game Center! You were proudly represented at 2D Con in Minnesota this year…wore my Blackthorn tshirts two days!
2D Con, Minnesota’s largest gaming convention, was AMAZING! We were only able to take pictures during the quiet moments at the start of the day…the rest of the time we were TOO BUSY. There were so many wonderful exhibitors and guests! Video games, tabletop games, vendor market, contests, panels, cosplayers, parties, and MORE!
We had so much fun playing our new Pocket Games series games with visitors, as well as checking out all the fantastic games by other developers!

WOW! Just got home from this year’s 2D Con, Minnesota’s largest gaming event…and found out that our new game, Pocket Privateer, won BEST IN SHOW!
What an amazing end to the wonderful time we had at the convention. So many great developers…so many great new games…so many wonderful gamers we got to meet and play with.

NEW DELUXE DECKBUILDING GAME: We’re proud to announce the release of ArchVenatus: The Deckbuilding Game of Monster Hunting! YOU are a legendary hunter in the 1800s, traveling the world in search of the most elusive and dangerous beasts. Travel the world researching epic beasts, searching various hunting grounds, collecting clues and weapons…and hunting the monsters so you can claim their heads as trophies!
NEW POCKET GAMES: We are releasing not one, but FOUR pocket games! All of our pocket games come in cool, durable, pocket-sized mint tins, and they all use our unique “handbuilding” mechanic. Here’s a quick look at the four games:
- Pocket Privateer: Sail the seas in search of treasure, visiting Caribbean ports, attacking your opponent’s ship with cannons, boarding their ship to plunder it…and adding new tricks, crew, and gear to your hand from the store!
- Pocket Attorney: Enter the courtroom to try your skills as an ace attorney! Present evidence and witnesses to sway the jurors to your side…while using motions and objections to thwart the opposing attorney!
- Pocket Hacker: Your hacking skills are epic, but you’re not ready to take down the Mast AI System. Take some hacking contracts, grab some credits, buy some powerful gear for your system, maybe even hack your opponent…but watch out for the backtrace, or your gear’s getting fried!
- Pocket Tyrant: Rule with an iron fist or a velvet glove, your choice. But it’s going to take all your authoritarian powers to stave off rebellion…while at the same time undermining the authority of your opponent’s regime and driving their citizens to revolution!

I know we’ve been quiet…but it’s because we’ve been BUSY! Lots of new games in development and we are preparing for not one, but TWO new releases in the next few weeks.
A bit of a preview:
1 - ArchVenatus: The Deckbuilding Game of Monster Hunting. Play the role of 1800s monster hunters, traveling the globe in search of elusive and monstrous prey! Research them…scout out their locations…collect clues…and take their heads as trophies!
2 - Pocket Privateer: Our first pocket game! Travel from one pirate port in the Carribean to the next as one of the world’s most infamous pirates. Collect treasures to win…or send your opponent to the bottom of the sea!
3 - A redesigned website: Soon, the Archangelis Games websites will feature two separate areas. One, for our deluxe deckbuilding games…and another for our new pocket games!

Another new pocket game in development: Pocket Attorney!
So many of us are fascinated by legal trials…but most legal-themed games just don’t capture trial action in a way that is exciting and fun! In this game, you will:
- Produce evidence and witnesses
- Object to your opponent’s actions
- Make motions
- Utilize various strategies
- Convince jurors (while avoiding the judge’s ire) to win!
Easy to play, difficult to master…like all of our games!
Stay tuned for details regarding release (after we perform thorough testing), as well as announcements about other games in our new “Pocket” line!
Our second pocket game is in development: Pocket Rockstar! Build a band…equip them with legendary instruments…play gigs around the country…and win the Battle of the Bands!
Still some work to do in playtesting and refining, but we think this one is gonna be great!

SO…we already developed solo rules for Archangelis. They are available for download from our website. And now, I’m working on creating a solo play version for ArchPiratus, as well.
It’s important to me that the solo game be its own, distinct game. It would be boring to simply have it be “playing both hands.” Gamers already know how to do THAT.

New friends…and a new game!
PLUS: I’ll be checking out their game this weekend (hope to post a video soon)…and they are going to play Archangelis AND help out with the testing of ArchFurritus: The Deckbuilding Game of Ferret Mischief! I can’t wait to hear what they think!
Day 3…and that’s a wrap! Realized that I had a great time talking to Tait Fletcher and got his autograph…but forgot to get a picture with him! So I stopped by to see him again, and got a picture. Such a nice guy…seriously. Showed our games to more visitors, and even got to play it with one of my “vendor neighbors.”
On that note: The best part of this weekend was meeting other people trying to make their creative dreams come true. Big shoutout to:

Tina Isola Illustration…her art is amazing. You’ve never seen anything like it…go follow her right now, and you can thank me later.
Chrysanthemum Productions…these are two of the smartest, most interesting guys I’ve met in a long time. Between their work in hydroponics and their fantastic new tabletop game, they are sure to impress. I can’t wait to play their game with Evey.
Going to take a break from conventions for a bit…work on games and getting the word out. But, I really enjoyed this weekend of new friends and wonderful surprises.
What a day! Day 2 of Music City Multi Con 2023 was full of wonderful surprises! Busy in the morning, and met lots of wonderful people wanting to learn more about our games. I just love talking to gamers about our shared interests.
And then…got meet Danny Trejo who was very kind…had a long, fantastic chat with Tait Fletcher (Paz Vizsla from The Mandalorian)…then had a great time talking to Andrey Ivchenko (Gregori from Stranger Things)…and then got to have a lovely visit with Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko from The Boys)! They were all the nicest people, all very willing to hang out and talk for a bit.
Two days down…one more to go! Come on out and see us!
Tina Isola is in the booth across from us at Music City Multi Con 2023…her art is amazing. I had to buy a print and a coloring book…and I’m excited about the graphic novel she recently worked on.
It’s the kind of art that catches your attention…and then while you are looking at it, you keep noticing new details, layers, and textures. Love it.
