A reminder that sentencing for veteran newspaperman Michael Lacey in the case is less than a month away: July 9, 9:30am in Phoenix's federal courthouse. Prosecutors drove Lacey's business partner Jim Larkin to su***de. Now they want Lacey, who turns 76 at the end of July, to die in prison.

Convicted on April Fools Day, no less, after representing himself during his trial for a s*xual assault on an ASU student. "On Monday, Eric Todd Bell proved true the old adage, 'the man who represents himself has a fool for a client.'"

Eric Todd Bell acted as his own attorney in the trial. A jury convicted him on six counts in the 2021 assault.
