As promised, here are the tallied up scores for the first leg of the kaizo cup. we realize some flaws in our scoring methods, and so the next time we host a kaizo cup, next year probably, we will be doing away with the automatic 200 points for dropping.
we want to give all runners a huge ggs on their runs, some massive points have been earned.
Keep in mind that the harder hacks have more points available and that this is very much still anyone's game.

Edit: Our original thinking behind the 200 points was that we didn't want team members of runners that have to drop out to be left without anything. Looking at these scores, we can see that 200 was far too much, but we will stick to our word and award those points for the rest of the competition. Next year, players that drop out will receive 0 points for their team. - Kami.

Important. Please read everything to avoid accidental disqualification.

It's almost time. All your hard work is about to pay off.

All runs will be submitted into a private Facebook group. You will receive a link to the group via private message the day before your runs are due to be submitted. That means Quickie runners will receive the link this Sunday!

If you don't have a Facebook account, make a temporary one. 5 minutes of your time.

Quickie 1 runs must be submitted between the 4th - 6th July. (Open at 00:01 on the 4th July and closed at 23:59 on the 6th July). UK TIMEZONE. Use Google to determine what that means for you.

How to submit your run:

Join the private group.
Go live to the private group as your Facebook profile.
State your PAGE NAME and TEAM NAME.
Where applicable, quickly bring up the settings menu of your emulator and show us the cheats menu and the number of frames of runahead you are using. Maximum allowed is 2.
Start your run! You get ONE attempt. There are no resets.
Once your run ends, simply end the stream.

Timers and input displays are preferred, but not required.

Welcome to The Kaizo Cup. Let's do this.

We just hit 30 sign-ups, which means we have 10 full teams.

Due to how close we are to the team draw and the fact that we need multiples of 6, we have decided to close the sign-ups to avoid having to turn anyone down.

We offer our sincerest apologies to anyone who was planning on signing up on the last day, please enjoy the tournament and come back next year to compete.

We are absolutely blown away by the buzz around The Kaizo Cup. To everyone that has signed up and to everyone excited to watch - thank you.

Throughout the day tomorrow, Seto Kaizo , The 8th Bit and myself will be going live to the Kaizo Cup page and setting the par time for each hack.

Teams will then be drawn at 9pm UK.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to inform you that there are currently 26 submissions for the first ever Kaizo Cup!
We did not expect quite so many people to enter!
Due to the format of the competition, it is quite crucial that there are a multiple of 6 competitors in total. To this end, your hosts have made the decision to limit the maximum number of entrants to 36! That's 12 teams in total!
We're all so excited to see who will be teamed up together on Sunday! Tell your friends! Share this page! If you're thinking about entering, put your name down on the sign-up post, before it's too late!!
And everyone, a huge, HUGE thankyou to those brave contenders who have already signed up to the first ever Kaizo Cup! They are:

Timeline:

4th - 8th July: Quickie 1 (100%) run submissions. The Quickie 1 event will take place on the 10th.

11th - 15th July: Orcus (any%) run submissions. The Orcus event will take place on the 17th.

18th - 22nd July: Autumn (any%) run submissions. The Autumn event will take place on the 24th.

Final result will also be announced on the 24th.

Run submissions are over 5 days for maximum flexibility to ensure that all of you are able to submit your runs at a time that suits you. If you absolutely cannot submit during the 5-day period, we may be able to work something out. To be fair to the other players, it would have to be an early submission. Late submissions are absolutely not permitted.

We are still working out the ins and outs on how we are going to accept the runs, but as soon as we know - so will you. (So far the most sensible idea seems to be a Private Facebook group for submissions to prevent Cup followers from knowing the result before the events).

Submission requirements will be posted closer to the time. Requirements are likely to be:
1 - A timer.
2 - A quick check that runners that are emulating have their run-ahead set to a maximum of two frames and that your cheat menu is empty.
3 - A quick input check (For example, your host will tell you to go up, down, down, up on the menu to ensure there's no monkey business).

You will all know your teams this Sunday. We'll be going live from this page to spin the wheel and announce them. Exact time TBA.

We will also be setting 'par times' this Sunday. If you beat the par time during your official run, you will earn an extra 100 points for your team.

09/05/2022

18 Sign-Ups so far. That's six full teams.

Who's excited for the team allocations on Sunday?

09/05/2022

‼️Important information‼️

There was something I should have mentioned in the breakdown video which is extremely important.

Crossing the finish line ends the race and prevents your opponent from scoring further points. This is to prevent people taking their time and racking up points rather than racing.

We are so so proud of how quickly this has taken off. We now have enough sign-ups for FIVE FULL TEAMS.

Thanks for your time. Now get to work 😈

The Kaizo Cup - Summer 2022!

⛔ SIGN-UPS ARE CLOSED AS OF SATURDAY 14TH MAY, 06:54AM UK ⛔

The hacks featured in this kaizo cup will be quickie world 1, orcus and autumn!
Everyone who signs up will be put on a wheel, which we will use to assign everyone to a team of 3.
Teams will be decided next week, Sunday 15th May!

Teams will have to decide between themselves who will run which hack. Each team member will only play one of the three hacks.
Each team will also need to come up with a team name, so you will have to communicate with your team! It might be a good idea to use discord, but you can do what works for your team.

Please be a team player! If you sign up to this competition and drop out last minute, it might not be possible for your team to replace you. Life happens, we all know this, and we will do anything we can to make it work.
Any decisions made to postpone any runs or give any form of an extension of time in any way, or adjustments to the rules to offset such misfortunes, will be at the discretion of your hosts.

It would be great if the runs could be live, but as it is extremely unlikely that everyone will be available at the time, we will be taking recorded runs before the date of the competition, recorded unpublished until the time of the run being shown in the competition.
This means the competition runs will not be live streamed publicly before the competition. Commentary and awarded points will be live.

The following is a breakdown of the points available for each team.
Each hack has 5 challenges, worth a varying amount of points if completed during the submitted competitive run.

The challenges are worth 750 points in total, 250 points per hack.
The runs will be shown side by side, two runs at a time, head to head style. The fastest of each of these head to heads will earn their team another 250 points per hack. That's another 750 points available per team, if a team wins all three head to heads. These match ups will be completely random.

There are also some bonus points available, if a runner successfully yumps off a p-switch and gets the midway/goal on that run, that's a further 10 points. Every yump in a switch palace is also 10 points. Every skipped midway will also earn an extra 10 points!

There will also be a further 100 points available for each hack for beating the par time.
Seto Kaizo will set a par time for quickie 1, kamikaizo will set a par time for orcus, and The 8th Bit will set a par time for autumn on the day the teams are decided (15th May). Do you have what it takes to beat the hosts for 100 points?!

The challenges for the hacks and their respective point value are as follows:

Quickie 1 (100% category) -
1 - Bullet skip in goomba jam- 30
2 - One shot sawrfing castle- 40
3 - Take a yoshi out of rainbow road- 20
4 - Beat rainbow road without cheese- 100
5 - Get in sawrfing castle as big mario- 60

Orcus (any% category) -
1 - Get out of World 1 with Zero Deaths - 75
2 - Do a Key Jump in Screaming Jungle - 50
3 - Beat Forest of Spirits without using the shell-kicking Koopa - 25
4 - Squeeze between the lava and the falling grey platform at the end of Phaedextrin's Maw - 75
5 - Get all three Yumps - 25

Autumn (any% category) -
1 - Get a galoomba jump with the first galoomba in moonlit express instead of dropping it - 25
2 - One shot black dog's bite, including the boss - 38
3 - come out of cave is shift with a wr pace (under 12 minutes) - 50
4 - complete the tutorial section at the start of Mt Kongo, and learn how to be an astronaut - 62
5 - Use the balloons in Mt Kongo to go to space! Float up to, and beyond, the top of the screen with the last set of three balloons in the level. (this challenge can only be completed if the 62 point challenge was also completed) - 75

Comment below as/with your gaming page/channel to sign up!!! Feel free to ask any questions!!! GOOD LUCK!!!
