There are first moments in life and you have to charish all of them. Three months ago today for Joe's birthday we decided to go to the animal shelter and look at one special little girl. Then a few days later Joy became part of our family.

October’s Obituary

October passed away on May 27, 2023 in his favorite new blanket at home at the age of 92 (19 human years).. October was born in Stratford, WI in 2004 on a farm where he was raised by his Kitty Parents. At 6 months old he met his human mother Jennifer and was brought home by her. He lived most of his life in Wausau where he spent his days laying in the sun, taking naps and terrorizing the local wildlife from his favorite windows. In 2011, his family was completed when his mother married (Joseph) . October’s now had a father figure in his life and a new place to sleep (on his father’s lap). As a kitten he discovered the delicacy of human ankles as well as the joy of sneak attacks. He developed a lifelong animosity to strings and twitching creatures. He loved to cuddle with his parents at night as well as laying in their laps during the day. He loved to follow the sun each day from room to room. In the morning he loved to have breakfast with his mother and in the evening he would have dinner with his father (read as “tried to steal their food”). October was a very social kitty. He loved visitors and loved cuddles. He loved to drink water out of cups (especially his dad’s) but he would drink running water if he had to. His favorite activities were hunting, bird watching, looking outside and sleeping. He loved the outside air. Any time you picked him up he would purr and he loved to be petted. October was diagnosed with diabetes in 2017 and had to be treated with Insulin Injections for a few months. He was not a fan. Due to excellent treatment from his Vet, it was well managed and he was able to be treated with special food for diabetic cats. October enjoyed his annual birthday parties and every year he wrote a letter to Santa Paws (with a little help from his parents) to ask for lots of blankets and catnip toys. We thank the dedication and love from his family and friends and a very big Thank You to Dr. Arnold and her staff for giving him all those extra years of health and love with his parents. October was more than a pet, he was a member of our family and we will always remember and love him. October is survived by his human mother and father. Proceeded in death by his sister Sandy.

Joe made red beans and rice with Cajun sausage for dinner. We assume Joe's Mom made it when he was a kid, though we're not sure. October was VERY interested. Must be a New Orleans kitty. ;)
