Science fiction is rife with settings where multiple species inhabit the same space and time and regularly interact with one another in a variety of social situations. Given the unique physiologies of animal species here on Earth alone, imagine the diverse array of physiologies that could have evolved on far-off alien worlds. How different from the human baseline could an advanced alien species be? Would they communicate in spectrums human physiology could see, hear, or otherwise comprehend?

Vol. 5 includes another chapter in Hobbs’ Histories, our general overview of the great historical periods of human history, this time looking at the Great Diaspora of humankind, the period in history where humanity spread throughout the Varuna Galaxy and met their first Gen-7 species. Lanterns of Varuna shares more details about TOG culture across its thousands of unique worlds, including arts, literature, and architecture. Finally, Insights wraps with a location look at Tanus: a trade post out on the fringe.

In Hobbs’ Histories, a brand new section of Insights, we feature a general overview of the great historical periods of human history, beginning with our first steps into space and the Varuna Galaxy. Next, we’re off to another Lanterns of Varuna, but we’ve shifted the focus fully over to TOG to learn a little more about its culture across its thousands of unique worlds. Starting with Tellun life, this chapter of Lanterns looks at human language, education, residence, travel, and clothing. Finally, the Insight wraps with a location look at Avesti: the model Tellun world.
