Question...how much do you love yourself?
This week’s episode is a little self-love discussion/pep talk and reflection of February. It was a beautiful month full of love in all forms so I decided to talk about it and share some of my special experiences with you! I enjoy speaking light and life to things that are important in life and I believe self-love is definitely one of them. So, as you go through this new month, continue to show yourself love!💘✨

It's already the last week of February! It has truly flown by, but before it's over, I wanted to celebrate Black History Month in a very special way. Growing up, I discovered a love for Black poetry and for the way words had the power to make me feel special and beautiful. I decided to pick three of my favorite poems written by Black poets and writers to share with you all! In this episode, I recite "BLK History Month" by Nikki Giovanni, "I, Too" by Langston Hughes, and "Still I Rise" by Maya Angelou (in this order). So, take a seat and listen in... you may just find your new favorite poet!

I hope you've all had a blessed and prosperous month! I encourage you to continue learning about Black history in your daily life. Don't let your growth in knowledge end on the 28th. ✊🏾✨📖

Yesterday, I had the privilege of sitting in on a conversation and poetry reading with the living legend Dr. Nikki Giovanni! She said, if God was recreating the earth and asked her what he should start with, she’d reply “a Black woman”! I couldn’t agree more and with that being said, I want to shine a spotlight on a Black woman who’s making history!

Dr. Kizzmekia “Kizzy” Corbett is a key scientist at the forefront of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her doctorate degree in microbiology and immunology from UNC Chapel Hill where she worked as a research assistant studying viral infections. When her team at NIH gained knowledge of the outbreak occurring in Wuhan, China back in January 2020, they got straight to work. Her participation and involvement in developing this vaccine gave me the confidence I needed to proceed in receiving the vaccine! Thank you for your hard work and dedication! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

It’s officially my 2 week post-vaccine mark! 🥳
This means that my immune system now knows how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this will protect me from getting sick with COVID-19 in the future. If you’re interested in learning more about my COVID-19 vaccine experience, check out last week’s episode! It’s available to stream and watch via the links in my bio! 🎧🎥🤳🏾
So, how’s everyone feeling about the vaccine? Has anyone else been able to receive it? Has anyone declined? The floor is open and all voices are welcome! 💉

This week, I'm talking about the COVID-19 vaccine and my own unique experience with receiving it! I went for my first dose of the Moderna vaccine on January 11th and returned for my second dose on February 8th. In this episode, I share some research and information I learned that played a role in my desire and decision to receive the vaccine. I also share the side effects I experienced and my overall takeaways. If you didn’t know, here’s your Black History fact for the day: a Black woman, scientist and researcher named Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett, played a leading and pioneering role in the development of this specific vaccine!

Stay educated and healthy everyone!

Thank you to everyone who has streamed my newest episode “20 Lessons from 2020”!! I hope at least one of the lessons resonated with you! This one hit home the hardest for me, #20 STOP MAKING YOURSELF SMALL! I read something this morning that said “remember if you play small, you stay small. It’s okay to want more. Do more. Be more”. This is the year of more for me... I just can’t afford to stay small any longer. ✍🏾

Oh and don’t forget to swipe!! New year, new logo edits! I have another surprise for you all but I’m not sure if I want to release it today or make you wait.🤔🤷🏾‍♀️😉 Stay tuned!

Happy New Year and Happy Black History Month!! I am officially back! Thanks for hanging in there while I was "away".

To kick off my first episode of 2021, I am sharing 20 of the most important lessons I learned in 2020. It was a year full of hardship and pain but also necessary growth! In fact, the last three months alone have been quite life changing for me, in the best way possible! After much consideration, I am excited to share that I've decided to extend the horizon of this platform to YouTube! Every Wednesday night, you will be able to watch all upcoming episodes and other Gabby-related content on my channel "As Told By Gabby". You won't want to miss them so go ahead and subscribe!

So, with no further adieu, I give you 20 lessons from 2020! Enjoy, share, and together let's continue to find the light in the midst of life!

In the words of Madam Vice President Kamala Harris , I’m speaking. WOW, that feels so good to say!!!🗣

Happy New Year! After a 3 month hiatus… I am excited to announce that “As Told By Gabby” is officially coming back next week on Wednesday, February 3rd. This month, I took time to refocus my energy on trusting God, revamping my brand, and preparing for this very special re-launch. I’ve always been an overthinker but the future of this platform and brand is something I am absolutely confident about. See you soon!😉🤩🥰

WHEN WE VOTE! 🗣📨🇺🇸
This episode shares the dialogue from a conversation held on September 26th, 2020. The conversation is a response to the call to action from last week’s episode in which I openly invited people to join me in discussing the importance of voting in America. 5 individuals of all different backgrounds decided to join the conversation and share their opinions, point of views and perspectives on the topic. As of today, we are 34 days away from the US Presidential election of 2020. If you want to grow in knowledge, this conversation is for you. If you need encouragement in deciding whether or not to vote this year, this conversation is for you too. If you just want to be inspired by the ideas and optimism of others, this conversation is also for you. Everything considered, this is for all of us. We will all be affected by this election in one way or another. Please register to vote, create a voting plan, and get it done. The next four years must be incredibly different from the last four years, and this episode will explain exactly why.

Happy Wellness Wednesday!!💆🏾‍♀️
"Do you know your love language?" is a question I've been asking all of my friends and loved ones lately! This episode, I talk about my new obsession with love languages. Gary Chapman, author and relationship counselor, shares with the world that there seems to be five fundamental love languages that shape the way we express and receive love. These are words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, physical touch and gifts. They pertain to all relationships that we come across in life! Listen to hear the ranking of my languages and a few deeper details about the practice of each language! 🤍✨
Also, these tweets from spoke to me and I hope they encourage you to practice your love language on yourself and then practice them on others! Enjoy🥰

Hello, I'm alive and well! ✨👋🏾
For the past two weeks, I was relatively quiet on social media as I tried to take in and cope from what's happening all around the world. We are collectively experiencing a season of hurt, pain, and sorrow. Although we're "ready" for 2021 to come and sweep 2020 away, if we don't change a lot of our ways...2021 could just be a carbon copy of this year. Over the past few weeks, I've had a lot changes occur in my own life and I'm excited to share them with you in this free-spirited/free-spoken episode!

This week, I sat down with Tatiana Donaldson, creator of the “Ambitious Black Girl” platform, community, and podcast. Tatiana shared with me how she found the light in the midst of her own life to create this special space for Black women’s voices to shine and be uplifted. We talk about her experiences as she currently lives abroad in Cambodia. Although it’s given her the opportunity to disconnect, she’s still been able to stay present in what’s happening across the world while staying true to herself and making her own peace a priority.
I hope you enjoy this very special episode with another beautiful Black woman who inspires me daily!💜✨

Once again, wishing you all a very prosperous and successful August! Have you ever heard of "Black August"? I can imagine a lot of us haven't and are wondering how we can participate in creating change this month. Black August came about in the 1970's and it specifically honors political prisoners, freedom fighters, and martyrs of the Black freedom struggle. It's a call for reflection, study, and action to promote Black liberation. So as we move forward throughout this month, I encourage you to educate yourself, read literature about the Black freedom struggle and liberation movement, and support Black businesses, activists, and leaders!
This month, I am sitting down with 4 different Black women who are making an impact in their respective industries and communities. I hope you listen, enjoy and contribute to their communities and upcoming projects! Happy Black August!✨

We’re talking about transitional periods in life itself, in the relationships we keep and the career areas we work in! With that being said, episode 7 is in the works and will be up next Wednesday! This week, I wanted to share with you a very special TED Talk with Mellody Hobson titled “Color blind or color brave?” This is one of those talks that touched me deep in my soul and ignited this passion for having conversations about race! I hope this encourages you to continue advocating, protesting and speaking up. This isn’t a moment but a movement! ✨

Originally, I was going to post something that tied into last week’s episode about “Wellness Wednesday”. I think it’s much more important that on the 5th year anniversary of Sandra Bland’s death, I post about Breonna Taylor because as you can see, we were demanding police reform then and we’re still demanding it now. Breonna Taylor was an EMT, an essential worker, who aspired to become a nurse one day. On March 13th, while sleeping in bed with her boyfriend, 3 officers busted through her front door and fired shots. Eight of those shots pierced Taylor’s body, killing her. When entering her apartment, the officer did not identify themselves nor did they knock, in fact, they didn’t even have the right house. The person they were looking for was a drug dealer named Jamarcus Glover who have been captured already. You’d think action would’ve been taken immediately but unfortunately we thought wrong. With the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor’s story which would otherwise be an after thought has re-entered the scene and has gained more attention than it did in March. Louisville council passed “Breonna’s Law” which bans no-knock warrants but only one of the three officers has been fired from his job while the other two have been placed on administrative reassignment. What we really want to know is…where are the arrests? Where are the convictions? There is a lack of attention and focus on the lives of black women in America and this is something we must talk about and never stop talking about. BRING BACK THE FIGHT FOR BREONNA! Her name is no longer trending, people are no longer reaching out to officials, the pace is slowing down. I encourage you to not let up! If you need a little refresher, listen to episode 6. Listen to the voices and stories of black women who are demanding that change must happen and it must happen now.
