After meeting you back in February to pick up my lil nest that we worked together so hard on, I made a post on my FB...i was so excited, I never asked for your permission but it received alot of praise. Here's what I wrote:
I've gotten chunky or THICKER lol but that's not important. 🤭 Not many know this particular part of my life because I know alot of Yall would be very surprised to know this about me (maybe even raise some eyebrows too 😅) but I've been on Section 8 for the last 5yrs. I applied years ago in hopes to be one of the lottery winners! Well, I got picked and waited a year and a half of being on the waiting list for the journey to begin. This is my caseworker Andrea. She helped me set S.M.A.R.T goals and has been my accountability partner thru it all. She helped me build a lil (BIG) escrow nest and I got to pick up my check from HACA off Riverside today from an agreement that we made to build! Yall, I want to encourage all the Moms out there that it is possible to become self sufficient. They paid for schooling, granted me scholarship money (they PAID ME to go to school), helped with bills, contributed to paying some of my rent, helped with school supplies for the boys, Blessed me with Thanksgiving dinners every year, helped out with gas money, educated me on how to go out and buy a house, helped me raise my credit score, just to name a few ways that has been so beneficial! Yall the resources are out there! Apply yourself, educate yourself, reach out for help! Today is such an Amazing milestone for me! Yes, I applied myself and took advantage of ALL the help that was being offered to me, to elevate...not stay stagnant. I will graduate off the Family Self-Sufficiency program later on this year in October! It is the final step before her and I part ways! Giving all the Glory to God for coming thru EVERY SINGLE TIME! 🙏💜
