THE EX-MANAGER of a high-end restaurant situated in the picturesque French resort city of Nice is currently under suspicion for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of a prominent hotel tycoon. This incident recently came to light as investigators revealed that the magnate was discovered bound in the rear of a van.

Confirming a report from the esteemed publication Le Parisien, an official police source has substantiated that the former head of the renowned Michelin-starred establishment, La Reserve, is one of the individuals apprehended in connection with this audacious kidnapping.

The victim in question, Jacqueline Veyrac, aged 76, holds the esteemed distinction of being the millionaire proprietress of both La Reserve, an upscale waterfront culinary haven in Nice, and the opulent Grand Hotel located in the neighboring Cannes. Regrettably, this is not the first time Jacqueline Veyrac has been subjected to the harrowing experience of abduction. A mere three years prior, she fell prey to a similar ordeal, the motives behind which, until today, have remained shrouded in mystery.

French retail behemoth Carrefour has initiated a recall of its in-house mozzarella cheese product due to concerns over potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
On August 17th, Carrefour issued a health advisory urging customers to inspect their refrigerators for containers of its private-label mozzarella. The primary concern stems from the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, the bacterium accountable for causing listeriosis, in a specific batch of items that were distributed across various stores in France.

French supermarket giant Carrefour is recalling an own-brand mozzarella cheese product following fears that some items may be infected with the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

AS Monaco started the new Ligue 1 season impressively with a 2-4 victory over Clermont Foot.

Adi Hutter stuck to his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation for the season's opener, selecting a strong lineup that featured a good mix of promising young players and experienced veterans.

Despite conceding an early goal in the seventh minute to the Lancers due largely to Philipp Kohn's handling error, Monaco was off to a challenging start. However, ASM quickly responded. Vanderson came close to scoring shortly after, hitting the woodwork, and then the Brazilian player equalized around the 30-minute mark with a skillful finish, following an excellent combination with Takumi Minamino.

Les Monegasques continued their momentum, taking the lead just before the first half ended. Wissam Ben Yedder calmly converted a shot, capitalizing on Youssouf Fofana's initial attempt that had rebounded off the post.

Clermont came out strong in the second half, eager to get back into the game. Their efforts paid off when Muhammed Cham scored in the 53rd minute.

Elsewhere, Johnny Depp continued his return to the festival circuit with a press conference where he declared he had “no further need for Hollywood.” His “Jeanne du Barry” director and co-star, Maïwenn, posed for photos at a site with the French Riviera as the backdrop.
