Samsung has announced that it is placing restrictions on the use of generative artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT, for its employees, following instances of misuse of such services. One of Samsung's biggest divisions informed its employees of the temporary ban through a memo at the end of April, after discovering cases of misuse of the technology. According to Bloomberg, some staff had uploaded sensitive code to ChatGPT.

Shopify on Thursday announced it’s cutting 20% of its workforce. The news came as it reported first-quarter earnings that beat analyst estimates on both the top and bottom lines.

Shares of Shopify surged more than 26% in early trading.

CEO Tobi Lütke announced the job cuts in a memo to employees posted on the company’s website. He didn’t specify which units will be affected as a result of the layoffs.

“I recognize the crushing impact this decision has on some of you, and did not make this decision lightly,” Lütke wrote.

Shopify had about 11,600 employees and contractors as of Dec. 31, according to a securities filing.

The cuts mark the second round of layoffs for the Canadian e-commerce company. Shopify last July laid off 10% of its workforce after Lütke said the company had misjudged how long the Covid pandemic-fueled e-commerce boom would last.

The upcoming Fast & Furious film is set to be the second-to-last installment in the franchise, and will feature the return of several key cast members, including Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto and Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz. Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster will also reprise their roles.

In addition to the returning cast, there will be several newcomers to the franchise, such as Daniela Melchior, Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson, and Jason Momoa, who will be playing the role of Dante Reyes, the son of Hernan Reyes.

Diesel has promised that the final two films will be "something special" that will leave fans "shocked". "We've been working on 10 for the last year, so I have so much to share and I'm holding back," he said.

The Bollywood film Pathaan has made history by becoming the first Hindi film to premiere in Bangladesh since the country's partition in 1971, according to Filmfare. The action-thriller will be released in Bangladesh on May 12. Nelson D'Souza, Vice President of International Distributions, expressed his gratitude to the authorities for allowing the film to be released and said that cinema has always been a unifying force between nations, races, and cultures.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted a rise in temperature and humidity in Karachi over the next three days, with temperatures reaching between 36°C to 38°C. There is also a possibility of an increase in heat intensity in central and upper Sindh from May 8 or 9. However, light rain is expected in some areas of Sindh tonight. In other parts of the country, rain and thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, Northeast Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 12 hours, with some areas expected to receive heavy rainfall.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned in a grand coronation ceremony on Saturday at Westminster Abbey in London. The Archbishop of Canterbury placed the St Edward's Crown on Charles' head as he sat on a throne in front of world leaders and a TV audience of millions. Camilla was also crowned. The ceremony is not essential but is seen as a way to legitimise the monarch publicly. After the ceremony, the King and Queen appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with other royals, except Prince Harry who was absent.

Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced that his party would hold rallies every day until May 14th. The decision was made to show support for the Constitution, Supreme Court, and Chief Justice of Pakistan. The rallies were held in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Peshawar. If elections were not held, Khan said he would prepare the public to protest. He stressed that violating a country's Constitution means the justice system and the rule of law have ended, and the nation has become slaves. The PTI will continue to hold rallies until elections are held and Pakistan is free.

A new law called the Supreme Court (Review of Judgements and Orders) Bill, 2023, was introduced by Irfan Siddiqui from the PML-N party and was passed with 32 votes in favor. The proposed law aims to expand the Supreme Court's power to review its own judgments and orders. The PTI senators opposed the bill and chanted slogans of “disrespect of courts unacceptable” while tearing copies of the legislation. However, the law minister, Azam Nazir Tarar, stated that the legislation does not disrespect the Parliament or the courts and is in line with Article 188 of the Constitution. The bill includes four sections and parliament is committed to its implementation.

On Friday, Parachinar witnessed protests and mourning after the deaths of eight people, including five teachers, in separate attacks the previous day. Unidentified gunmen killed one person in the Shalozan area before seven people were gunned down at a school in the Teri Mangal area. Authorities have attributed the violence to a "land dispute". In response, the Kurram Teachers Association representative announced that all private and public schools would remain closed, and the board exams for ninth and tenth grades would be postponed. Mourners carried out sporadic protests, with teachers protesting at the Israr Shaheed High School and vowing to continue until a proper investigation is carried out.

On Thursday, Seven school teachers and a staff member were killed at Teri Mangal High School in the Kurram district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) after unknown assailants opened fire on them. The incident occurred shortly after another teacher, Muhammad Sharif, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting on Solozan Road. The deceased teachers were identified as belonging to the Turi Bangash tribe, and they were performing examination duties at the time of the attack. The students inside the examination center remained unharmed. Following the incident, board examinations were deferred indefinitely in Parachinar, and emergency was declared at hospitals across the district. Schools and transportation routes were also closed due to security concerns. While the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s office claimed that the killings were motivated by a property dispute, the regional commissioner stated that sectarian antagonism was the apparent cause.

Samsung has announced its latest smartwatch OS called One UI 5 Watch, which focuses on improving sleep tracking, activity tracking and user safety. The Sleep Insights UI feature provides a sleep score for each night's rest with specific metrics on sleep phases, blood oxygen levels and snoring hours. The new update also includes personalized heart rate zones for running, real-time running analysis, and a customized interval training program. PIA has reduced the fare for Islamabad-Beijing flights by about 30%, aiming to make travel easier for passengers between Pakistan and China. She can turn her foot almost 180 degrees, measuring at 171.4 degrees. Ms. Grubb discovered her unique talent after a colleague read about the record in the newest world record book and called it "gross." After testing her flexibility, Ms. Grubb realized she could break the record without even preparing for it. Pakistan won the third One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand by 26 runs, thanks to an impressive bowling attack that helped them bowl out the Kiwis for 261 runs. With this win, Pakistan sealed the five-match series 3-0, their first in 12 years against New Zealand.

Google and Meta have threatened to withdraw access to news articles in Canada if legislation compelling internet companies to pay news publishers is passed. Under the proposed legislation, platforms such as Google and Facebook would be forced to negotiate commercial deals and pay Canadian news publishers for their content. If the bill passes, Google may be forced to remove links to news articles found in Canadian search results, according to Richard Gingras, its vice president of news. Meta would also end the availability of news content in Canada if the bill is passed as currently drafted, said Rachel Curran, the company's head of public policy in Canada. In the current fiscal year, Pakistan's industrial growth is forecast to continue slowing down, reflecting fiscal and monetary tightening, a significant depreciation of the local currency, and higher domestic oil and electricity prices. However, the fiscal deficit is projected to narrow slightly, and measures to mobilize more revenues, such as harmonizing general sales taxes, are gaining momentum. Iran has seized a second US oil tanker, the Niovi, in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the US Navy. The tanker was seized by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and forced to reverse course into Iranian territorial waters. The seizure was reportedly the result of a judicial order following a complaint by a plaintiff. Last week, Iran seized an oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, which the US called a violation of international law. The seizure of the Niovi is thought to be in response to the US confiscation of an oil tanker, the Suez Rajan, in an effort to enforce sanctions on Tehran.

Seyfert galaxies have very bright centers because of the material that falls into their black holes. This material produces a lot of radiation that we can see across the electromagnetic spectrum. NGC 4395 is unique because it doesn't have a tightly packed group of stars at its center like most galaxies do.

Despite being a small galaxy, NGC 4395 has a black hole that is about 10,000 times the mass of our Sun.

Honda has announced an increase in the prices of its motorcycles for the fourth consecutive year in 2023. The increase is due to the rising value of the US dollar and the falling value of the Pakistani rupee.
