Welcome to the Providence Police Department Mounted Command’s stables at Roger Williams Park. The long-standing relationship between the department and the park is the result of an open space land agreement with the city. The horses housed here can frequently be seen grazing the paddocks around the facility along Cladrastis Ave. Though by appointment only, the stables are open to group tours throughout the year. After many years in service, the Roger Williams Park fleet of pedal-craft were run down, and the Parks Department was struggling to maintain them. That’s when Cynthia and Allen Days stepped in, and in 2004 took over the operation of boating in the park, acting as a vendor for the city. The Victorian Rose Garden at Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island was first built back in 1889. Former Christopher Rhodes School land update: Construction of The Glades at Rhodes is well underway. The new roadbed has been defined, drainage installed, city sewer and water infrastructure has been laid, and the first new home is just going up. Sad that the school is gone, but happy to see something positive rising from the dust.
Back in the early 2000's, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation began a decade long effort to move a decaying, obsolete Interstate highway, which for nearly 50 years had strangled off outlying sections of the City of Providence from their downtown center.
