4 glorious days spent in Northern Kruger, not a favorite for everyone but an absolute favourite of mine 🍃✨

We started a northern Kruger bird list and managed to tick 140 birds over 3 days with some key lifers like the Black Cuckoo, Dickinsons Kestrel, Red foot falcon and monotonous lark.

And treated to a pack of 20 wild dogs while on our way up to Pafuri. Always the unexpected treats show up in this part of the park and they appreciated more.

The coast of Kenya is something to marvel over, and if you have never been to Diani Beach, I strongly advise you add it to your bucket list.

I was asked to compare it to something, it’s like Zanzibar, only a million times better and they have the best sorbet cafe to indulge in 🍨

Nothing better than the bush in winter!

Getting dressed with layers upon layers only to have your nose running nonstop as you travel through that icy morning breeze, the colours of burnt orange, yellow and flicks of green that are gentle reminders of the glorious summer rains and the silence that’s accompanied by the chirps and rattles of the tiny creatures that live in the grass where your vehicle stands.

If you are wondering, it literally never gets old, it’s something new every time and that’s what keep you coming back for more 🐾

If I had a Time Machine ⏰

Exactly a year ago to the day we stepped foot on Zanzibar. 🌴
White sand, crystal blue waters, cocktails like you have never seen before and endless summer loving.

Anne and I took a long walk along the beach, browsing some of the items the locals where selling on the beach, finding shells and having such a girl chat while we broke away from the husbands and the kids. It was one of my favorite moments on the island along with watching the kids absolutely love the island life (pretty sure my son was born for it) and mostly the sunsets, there something refreshing about sitting and watching the sunset each day knowing you are living the best dam life.

Unpopular opinion, as much as I tried to love Stone Town, I just didn’t enjoy it. I LOVED the wooden doors that filled the streets, they really are magnificent but I don’t think it’s like what it’s “known” for. We mostly found stores filled with Chinese merch and cheap toys and the spice stores where 1 in a million which was what we went for, to see the locals and learn about their traditions.

We did however have the yummiest apples! 🍎 WIN!

Life lately….

I’m a big ball of gratitude at the moment, can’t help it living where I do, doing what I love everyday and seeing growth happen daily is enough on its own to make me so excited for what’s to come.

I had someone ask me something a while back and I didn’t know the answer, until now : “why would you move to such a small town that has nothing?”

I had a silent giggle to myself because it reminded me of how materialistic I used to be, before moving here and before our travels last year. It was all about having the best, looking the best and keeping up with Kardashians really 😏😂

When you experience the travels I have and you live in the town I do, none of that matters, sure a woolies would be fab for the chocolate coated rice cakes that I polish off in a matter of seconds from buying them, but truth is, none of it matters, plus I found yoghurt coated ones at pick n pay and they are 🤤

I see our lifestyle change and the good that’s brought and that’s enough for me. Now if I wasn’t living in the bush it would be a different story, the thrill of seeing a leopard by my pool at 2am in the morning, or checking my car and the driveway before I walk out the house so I am not surprised by a predator brings me an unmeasurable amount of joy!

So yeah, I do game drives in my socks and pjs, jeans and a tee are my new style and my favorite shop in town is a decor store that sells items that are way to expensive but it smells incredible and I love to browse imagining what my home will look like one day if I had all the money to spend.

A slice of heaven 🍃

Is what I call in George, South Africa
An incredibly well thought out home in the middle of the forest with nothing but the sounds of nature, flora and crackling wood around you.

The perfect spot to escape to when you need to reconnect (and unconnect from socials), to find a happy place or to simply just be. It has this unwavering ability to bring a sense of calm as well as a sense of adventure to explore every corner of the forest.

The sound of the whistling pot in the afternoon became a tradition after a day spent in the wood fire hot tub and chasing waterfalls.

Have you stayed here before? It should be on the top of your list 🍃☀️

Open spaces so intimidating it will leave you feeling more free than ever….

Situated on the southern part of the Namib desert, and laced in red sand due to the iron oxide coating, its a sight to behold and one worth every step of the walk to see it!

Wild thing, You make my heart sing 🎶

If you told me 5 years ago that I would be sitting around a fire listening to the Lions roaring every Saturday, waking up on a regular Wednesday morning and finding the same lion on my driveway and living where the wild things are, I probably would have given you a high five and said “a girl can dream”

Well….. 💭

Give me this safari life, in every lifetime over and over again.

What a day! 🫶🏼

Off to Kruger we went for a vehicle inspection, we were told there was a mating leopard pair down the road so we went to have a look and after the crowd left with no sight of the leopard we decided to sit it out…..

15 minutes in and we hear the grunting of the leopard and up the bank they walk and our in front of us on the road.
A snarl and a couple flares later and they were off into the bush again.

To my absolute horror my focus was off slightly on my camera, as it happens in the excitement of the moment, but still managed to get some shots, better than a flat battery I suppose 😂!

We were chasing the light to reach a male and female lioness when we stumbled onto these two and decided to stay.

Best choice due to an insane walk by from both of them ✨

Beautiful Botswana 🇧🇼

Sunsets from another world and flat open land like you have never seen before, all ready and waiting to be explored.

Also one of my favorite countries for their baobabs, we did a baobab tour and learnt so much about the history of them. An interesting fact was many years ago they would hollow out the centers and use them as prisons for thieves and a technique they use still to this day is the making of yoghurt from the fruit it bares.

Anyway I’m off to recreate picture 6 because this was a Mooooooonday! 😂🙈

My heart longs a little more for travels through Zambia today 🇿🇲

A country that has the most incredible culture, colour and sunsets. A country that has the friendliest people, the home-like feel and street food that’s delicious.
