Muhammad Ali was born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr at 6:35 pm on January 17, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky to Cassius Clay Sr and Odessa Grady Clay.
Cassius Clay Sr is a mural painting, but painted signs for a living. Odessa Clay works as a house cleaner and cook. Two years after Muhammad Ali was born, the couple had one son, Rudolph ("Rudy").

When Muhammad Ali was 12 years old, he and a friend went to Auditorium Columbia to join the free hot dogs and popcorn available to visitors of the Louisville Home Show. When the boys are finished eating, they return to get their bikes only to discover that Muhammad Ali has been stolen.
Furious, Muhammad Ali went to Auditorium Columbia's basement to report crime to police officer Joe Martin, who is also a boxing coach at the Columbia gym. When Muhammad Ali said he wanted to beat up the person who stole his bike, Martin told him that he should probably learn how to fight first. A few days later, Muhammad Ali started boxing practice at the Martin Gym.
From the start, Muhammad Ali took his training seriously. He trained six days a week. On school days, he wakes up early in the morning so that he can go running and then goes to practice at the gym in the evening. When exercise Martin closes at 8:00, Ali will then take the train at a boxing gym.
Over time, Muhammad Ali also created his own diet that included raw milk and eggs for breakfast. Concerned about what he put into his body, Ali stayed away from junk food, alcohol, and ci******es and so he could become the best boxer in the world.
1960 Olympics
Even in his first training, Muhammad Ali boxed like no one else. He is fast. So fast he did not punch ducks like most martial artists; instead, he just leaned his back away from them. Nor did he raise his hand to protect his face; he holds them down with his hips.
In 1960, the Olympic Games were held in Rome. Muhammad Ali, then 18, has won national tournaments such as the Golden Gloves and thus he feels ready to compete in the Olympics.
On September 5, 1960, Muhammad Ali (then still known as Cassius Clay) fought against Zbigniew Pietrzyskowski from Poland at the heavy light bout championship. In a unanimous decision, the jury declared Ali the winner, which meant Ali won the Olympic gold medal.
After winning the Olympic gold medal, Muhammad Ali gained the top position in amateur boxing. It is time for him to shoot professionally.

As Muhammad Ali began fighting in a professional boxing duel, he realized there was nothing he could do to draw attention to himself. For example, before fighting, Ali will say things to worry about his opponent. He will also frequently proclaim, "I am the greatest of all time!"
Usually before each match, Ali will write poetry that either round his opponent will fall or boast of his own abilities. Muhammad Ali's most famous line was when he said he would "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."

Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. His real name is Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. Ali was born into a family with a father who is a billboard maker and her mother as a maid. Like many children growing up in poverty, the boy also nurtured his dream of changing his life through sport.
Ali fell in love by chance with boxing at the age of 12. During a report of losing a bicycle at the police station, the boy knew Joe Martin - a police officer and a boxing coach. It was Mr. Joe who encouraged Ali to learn boxing and helped him progress quickly. Rushing into boxing, Ali's academic performance was getting worse, his graduation scores were mediocre, but his athletic achievements, typically six Kentucky Glove gold medals, made the school astonishing. That is something that Ali's principal must acknowledge; in 1960, during the Summer Olympics in Rome, the 18-year-old won a light gold medal. Since then, Ali has become a professional athlete under the guidance of legendary puncher Angelo Dundee. From October 1960, Ali started playing professionally and quickly became famous for 18 consecutive victories and orthodox style. In Louisville on October 29, 1960, in the first professional rooftop, he defeated Tunney Hunsaker.
In June 1963, he went to London (England) for the first time abroad to compete, meeting star Henry Cooper. Despite the cheering of 55,000 spectators for Cooper, Ali defeated his opponent after 5 innings.
Conquering a series of opponents, Ali began to aim for the world championship. Ranked as the puncher of the year, he challenged world boxing champion Sonny Liston in February 1964. Ali's luggage to enter this match is 19 wins, including 15 knockouts, and there is no defeat, but the 22-year-old puncher is of course classified as the lower door compared to Sonny alone.
