JOS DISCO APPEALS TO CUSTOMERS TO PROTECT FACILITIES

The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has called on customers in their franchise states of Bauchi, Benue, Gombe and Plateau to help in the fight against Energy Theft.

The company made the call last weekend through the Bauchi Regional Manager, Alhaji Auwalu Banajada at the Electricity Consumer Forum, Double 4 International Conference Centre, Old Jos Road, GRA Bauchi.

Banajada disclosed that apart from the activities of Vandals, energy theft remains the worst challenge bedeviling the company.

According to him, Jos Electricity Distribution Plc had lost billions of naira on a monthly basis so far because of the nefarious activities of energy thieves and vandals.

In his words, "energy theft has been a major problem in this business. You see someone in a community tampering with elevator installations and no one bothered to challenge or ask him him questions. It should not be so".

He admonished community leaders not to remain adamant and complacent in the fight against Energy Theft and vandalism saying, "As a result of your refusal to safeguarding electricity installations in your domains, these facilities will be destroyed and it is both the company and the communities that suffers. The community will be in darkness until what was vandalised was replaced. And this could take time", adding, "JED PLC has zero budget for vandalised items".

He therefore urged customers to take ownership of electricity installations in their domains by exhibiting vigilance on electricity facilities.

"Do not allow unauthorised access to electricity facilities located in your areas. If you see any suspicious movement, kindly ask to know the identity of the person and if you are not satisfied, arrest the person and hand him or her over to security agents and let us know. We should not fold our hands and allow unscrupulous elements in the society destroyed what collectively belongs to us", he counselled.

Babajada who also lamented that a lot of customers were indebted to the company to the tune of several billions of naira urged customers to endeavour to pay for their consumed energies as according to him their non payment was negatively affecting the operations of the company.

According to him, "since the introduction of the Service Reflective Tariff, JED Plc has tremendously improved on it services to her customers. We have been supplying electricity faithfully to our customers based on the category of Bands they belong to and it is therefore expected that customers should reciprocate our efforts by timeously paying for the energy that they consumed. If you don't pay for energy consumed, how do we pay those in the value chain ".

The Regional Manager who commended the Bauchi Stste Government as well as the Bauchi Emirate Council for constantly coming to their aid each time their attentions were sought called on members of the public to take advantage of the current National Mass Metering Programme to get their premises metered free of charge.

He charged customers to report anybody demanding money from them for the purpose of metering.

He advised customers with complaints about over billings to channel their complaints through any of the company offices or it social media handles assuring that that complaints would be expeditiously attended to.

Meanwhile, the Sarkin Turuwun, Alhaji Mohammed Turuwun has commended the Regional Managegement of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc in Bauchi for rendering quality and effective services to the people of Bauch State.

The Traditional ruler who said that the company had improved tremendously in the area of uninterrupted power supply and prompt response to customers complaints urged the company to sustain the tempo.

Also speaking, former permanent Secretary in the state, Alhaji Hassan Adamu also commended JED PLC for their prompt response to complaints.

"Whenever our transformer had issues or there are problems and we complained, they will expeditiously attend to us", he said.

Alhaji Adamu who is currently the Chairman of the Bauchi Stste Normadic Education promised to mobilise his people in Shira Local Government Area towards safeguarding electricity installations in the area.

In the same vein, another retired Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi Yashi from Alkaleri Local Government Area who also commended Jos Electricity Distribution Plc for improved services said that the regular sensitization of customers by the company was worthy of commendation.

AUSTIN CHENGE:A CONSTRASTING TALE.

(Copied from: Terkimbi Tyubee on Facebook) :

In far away America, Austin Chenge has won the primaries of the Republican party as their governorship candidate. Austin Chenge has a ninety percent chance of becoming a governor in of one of the states in America. That he is the party's candidate alone is a huge achievement. All Nigerians, especially the Tiv people, are praying for him to go all the way. I listened to the interview he granted and I was deeply impressed. He told the interviewer that his parents brought him to America at age five. In school, he was asked what he wanted to become. He told them. Equipments and materials were provided. The teachers guided him. The atmosphere was conducive. Today he has become what he wanted to be and exceeded his dreams. He said he wants to be governor to retain such excellent atmosphere and and improve on it.It was sweet to hear. To those Tiv people who have always defined democracy as a game of numbers, what numbers did Austin muster? And from which base?To the primitive minds, democracy is a game of numbers. But to those with a positive attitude, democracy is a game of the best choice available. Each time the Tiv people come together to deny Idoma governor, I have always told us we not Only being ungodly, we are creating unhealthy atmosphere for development. Never ever put a ceiling on the dreams and aspirations of a fellow human being on the bases of tribe. How much did you pay to be born a Tiv man?Our son Austin Chenge is today a beneficiary of a healthy atmosphere for human development. The Americans are not looking at him from the prisms of a Nigerian. The are seeing Austin Chenge as a good man who can make their state better. Win or not, Austin Chenge has vindicated my position and put a lie to all those educated Tiv sons who define democracy as a game of numbers. It is indeed a contrasting tale.

MASS DECAMPING HITS APC IN TARKA AS PDP INAUGURATES LOCAL GOVT. EXCO

10th October, 2020.

Thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State yesterday decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amidst strong indications that more will be following suit soon.

Tarka is the home of Leader of the APC in Benue, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, George Akume, who was defeated by Senator Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev in the 2019 Benue North-West (Zone 'A') Senatorial race.

The decamping occured as the State Working Committee of the Benue PDP led by State Chairman, Sir John Ngbede, inaugurated the Local Government Area Executive Committee of the party for Tarka.

Leader of the decampees, Elder Ahine Anivungu, sounded jubilant as he declared his avowal and that of the thousands with him to work hard to ensure PDP emerges victorious in coming elections in the area.

He pointed to the absence of positive impact by APC in Tarka, despite the Leader of the party in the state being from the area, stressing that every developmental milestone there is to the credit of PDP.

Benue PDP State Chairman, Ngbede, receiving the decampees into his party assured them of equal rights, charging them to join hands and work for the progress of the party in the area.

John Ngbede stated that the political reality in Tarka is that while PDP enjoys the majority support of the electorate there, APC leaders have always resorted to violence to manipulate elections in their favour.

He charged the newly inaugurated local government Executives, the decampees and members of the party in the area to close ranks and ensure their majority status registers in victory at subsequent elections.

Newly sworn in Tarka PDP Local Government Chairman, Aondoakaa Yayough, on behalf of the new Exco, pledged to work with all stakeholders and members of the party in the area to achieve success.

Various speakers at the occasion, including Executive Chairman of Tarka LGC, Mrs. Juliana Suswam; Rural Development and Co-operatives Commissioner, Victor Ukaha; Special Adivsers, Joyce Tarka and Emmanuel Manger; 2019 Gboko/Tarka House of Representatives PDP Candidate, Bernard Nenger; Elder Dr. John Allagh and PDP State Vice-Chairman for Zone 'B', Mbakorlumun James Chia all drummed support for the new Exco promising to work as a family for dominance in the area.
