Surprise, the radio will be going until the 10th!

Reading all your comments, DMs, and emails has been so heartwarming. Hearing that so many of you have made it part of your lives for many years blows me away. I've said it before but you all are why I've kept it going for all these years. I will always be grateful for your support and kindness.

Hope those of you traveling to Vegas arrive safely and have an amazing time.

I want to let everyone know that I have decided to end the radio when our paid yearly contract with the streaming provider expires. Last day of operation will be February 29th. It has been a lot of work, but it would not have been possible without your support. Over the past 20 years I've been lucky enough to make so many friends from this silly idea I had sitting in traffic after work one day.

Some have reached out to offer different solutions and financial contributions to keep it running, but it is a personal decision. I feel it is just time.

It has been a good run, and I'm very proud of what it has become. Who would've ever thought that it would go from only being able to support two people at a time connecting to my personal computer to having mobile apps on the Apple and Google Play store!! How crazy is that?!?

There are so many people I want to thank, but I would like to shout out the following:

Joan O'Reilly: If it wasn't for you helping me get in touch with management to get approval from the band when I came up with this idea, it would've never happened. Your continued support over the years has not gone unnoticed. Quilt on!

311: Thanks for the opportunity and the music.

Mark Donnelson: The OG homie. IYKYK.

Shane (dj3stripes): Your creative promos have helped customize and brand the station. So many people have told me how much they have loved them.

You guys did it! The goal has been reached to cover the streaming fees for the next year!

As I mentioned previously though I haven't been able to contact the band's new management to get approval. Since the original agreement was to only stream via the web and because of various licensing fees (some that are thousands of dollars) and documentation required to post the apps (which I have to do yearly), I am going to not publish the apps for now.

If I somehow get the green light to do so, meaning I get approval in writing that I can submit to the Apple and Google play stores, then I will actually have updated and redesign apps to offer but for now I want to be safe rather than sorry.

This is a tough decision but at the end of the day I hope you guys understand.

The community has spoken! It seems that a majority of people want to chip in to support the radio for another year. All donations go directly to running the radio. This is and will always be a not-for-profit service.

The streaming service alone costs $990 a year. The package I have selected allows us a lot of perks including a ton of listening time without overage fees, 20K listener slots, HD quality stream, mobile apps, the Alexa functionality, and much more. Also, if we pay for a year upfront we get two months free. The remaining donations go to web hosting and app developer fees.

So I'm wanting to be completely transparent about how I'm feeling about continuing the radio for another year. Finances are tight for a lot of people and I feel like raising $1,000 to keep the radio running for another year is a bit wrong when it could go to a charity or stay in people's pockets.

However, there are still a lot of people who still listen daily. I guess I'm really asking for community feedback since you guys are the reason it is even still going.

I can't make polls on Facebook but if your could please provide some feedback below it would be greatly appreciated. I also created a poll on Twitter if you would rather respond there.

As most of you know by now I would've already started raising the funds to run the radio for this upcoming year. I've been a bit delayed because I wanted to check with 311's Management to make sure that I can still run the radio with their blessing. Well good news, we were just given the green light to keep doing what we've been doing since 2004.

So what do your donations go toward? Mostly the streaming service because it costs $990 a year.
