There are different medical views on disabilities, the social model is the most used one in the western- world.
It's also the base for many accessibility guidelines.
➡ The social model of disability sees the issues with disabilities as a socially constructed problem.
The disability is not an attribute of the individual but a larger complex collection of conditions, many of which are created by cultures and norms.
From this view, accessibility can not be achieved just by removing boundaries. Cultural and ideological issues also have to be confronted to fully create an accessible space.

Working with Cerebral Palsy
Camille is based in West London and has cerebral palsy and visual impairment. However, she has been determined not to let it limit her, and has worked with several different charities. She is also on the front desk in a voluntary role at the Sands End Arts & Community centre. We recorded this two camera interview and have included subtitling which we checked with her before the final cut.

A lot of people have this mentality where you should just let go of bad memories. For most of my life that's what I did. After my autism diagnosis I realized that those memories are the key to shedding my mask. I have to remember the trauma to unlock what I lost.
